Money and what it buys...

Championship Sheffield Wednesday

comment on the article

It seems that some who post on this site believe that paying for a ticket entitles the purchaser to a winning team and that if the team doesn't win it must be the fault of the board/chairman. This is not the case.

Nor is it the responsibility of the board/chairman to put the club further in hock or to fund out of their own pockets the ambitions of the fans; it is their responsibility to run the club responsibly, as it is in any other business.

For whatever reasons the potential purchasers of Sheffield Wednesday have decided against investing in the club, there do not appear to be any further interested parties.

Is it not time to recognise reality? We are a club with a serious debt problem at a time when interest rates are on the rise; the Chairman and the Board are at loggerheads with a group representing a number of fans. Because of these realities we do not have the money or the stability to attract or retain ambitious footballers.

This is where we are... Things could be worse (see Leeds United) but things are unlikely to get better until there is some unity at the club and that requires a realistic outlook from the fans and the Board..

lets face it my fellow wednesday supporters, with all this dept we have when ever we find players like brunty or when ever we promote a rising star from the youth ranks we will always sell for a profit. And ask for mr allan he just wants his money back that he invested, lets face it if you take a risk and spend spend spend you might get some-where and in the end be successful.

I believe it has already been established that blade8t1 is not a football fan, just a Wednesday-hater who, like so many so called blunts "fans", are far more concerned with what Wednesday DON'T do than what their own team DO do!
I'm afraid we just have to live with the fact that people like blade8t1 laughingly call themselves "football fans".
Take away the Wednesday-haters from the grunters TRUE following and you will at least halve the number.

Obviously do what you want... But this article is not about United or their fans, it is about Wednesday and their supporters.

Is it possible that we could avoid dragging another thread into the pointless swapping of insults?

wednesday chid - Dave Allen & Co. are responsible for:-

Removing Jewell
Appointing Yorath
Appointing Turner & West
Sacking Sturrock - the most shameful thing I have ever witnessed.
Alienating thousands of Wednesdayites.

I am a true football fan,but having spent half my life listening to owls gloat about how they have the better team(and I had reason to argue that back THEN)
now the tables have turned quite cosiderably, I am due my gloating time!! so how about the owls that call a match that was played 29 years ago a massacre? are they proper fans?
because to me,teams lose by 4 goals every saturday(ahem ipswitch)
so at the end of the day,you can make as many presumptions about me all you like, but what really pizzes you guys off is the fact I point out your sad facts! not presumptions!FACTS,
so deal with it,caus im going wind the crap out of you guys right until you get relegated.
btw, I am so sorry bout your game at charlton today,,ooooohhh what a stinger lol,
UTB!! dto

Stop pickin on them blade8t1.

I'm starting to feel sorry for them now. They used to talk about then being a bigger club and having more supporters but the tide is turning.

If Wednesday don't get investment soon then 3 quarters of Sheffield will be Blades. My son goes to school and its nearly all Blades.

We're better than Wednesday on the pitch but off the pitch we're light years ahead. Did you hear on Radio Sheffield on Saturday, apparently MacCabe is in Brazil tying up a partnership with Sao Paulo. We will exclusive access to their young players. Other Premiership clubs want a partnership with the Brazilian side but they prefer us (apparently).

The future is definately red and white stripes and intelligent Wednesday fans know this.

blade8t1

You call yourself a proper fan when you are more bothered about winding Wednesday fans up than supporting your own team? I hardly think i am making presumptions about that, you have admitted it yourself "I am due my gloating time".
No matter that the pigs are doing better than us for now, Wednesday ARE still the bigger name of the 2 clubs and always will be. just because you are too blinkered to see the truth of this doesn't mean it isn't so.
Now go and prove you're a real fan and start paying attention to your own team, and not obssessing about ours. Thank you.
