Anyway I think BMX is very much a worthwhile sport for the Olympics, since it involves considerable skill, strength and guts to race, the proof of which can be seen by the number of BMXers who've crossed over successfully into track racing. Certainly I prefer those kind of sports to ones that rely on subjective scoring like Gymnastics.

5 live hosts (U1645679) posted Aug 21, 2007 I was going to take up BMX again but felt "a bit Nathan Barley" considering getting a secondhand Raleigh Burner from somewhere as a 30-something bloke. Then again Jamie Staff isn't much younger than me and he stillrides on occasion while coaching the GB hopefuls. If form is any guide then Britain could have an Olympic and World Champ this time next year.

fortframe (U9021706) posted Aug 22, 2007 bmx is fine as an olympic sport, team hoodies, red white and blue acne, and when we come 2nd we can claim "its not fair' in true teenager fashion. also teenagers on bmx bikes seems fine same with sketboards but adults on them , 30 yr old blokes dressed in daft baggy shorts trying tolook like teenagers! they will seem ridiculous.! athletic prowess is one thing but sulking and snogging at the end of olympics disco is another. why dont we get a boyband to open the show and Ant & Dec to give out the medals. and all floodlit events can have that clown westwood talking in his made up voice. brilliant, glad the games have such universal inclusion. lol
