Jol v whoever...

Tottenham Hotspur
comment on the article

Okay - so the board decide Jol should go!!

Who is to say that any incoming manager will do a better job than Jol is doing now - or will bring us success.

I say that Jol is doing a fine job and has the potential to bring us glory - and more backing from the board would be nice

Commoli has a lot more to do with this than we think. We know it is him who decides what players come in - so why isn't he taking some of the flak? If you look at our perfermances at the back-end of last season - we were playing well and winning. Then Commoli decides we need Bent (whose arrival has meant a headache for the Coach, BMJ) - of course on the other hand we have also got Kaboul who looks like a great signing that was needed what with King's injury problems, Bale for the all-important left-back position as Lee (who is good IMHO) seems to lack the strength for a whole season, KPB for midfield, seems he has the potential to be the playmaker we are lacking.

This has brought about Jol having to try and keep 4 great strikers happy, and as a result I believe the team has suffered a little because of this. Then we have Bale and KPB who have yet to play a game, and Kaboul who has done well in replacing King/Daws. But surely the thing that sticks out most was and is the Bent signing - looks like he is the typical boss who thinks he is always right, forces a change on the people below him and expects them to just deal with it - and then hides in the shadows when things go a little wrong!!

If Jol goes I fear it will be a big backward step for Spurs, and we will be lanquishing in mid-table for the next 3 years while a new man comes in and changes things to suit him.

While I am a Spurs fan through and through and I really do wanna see success for the club, I do not see the logic in getting rid of someone that has taken us towards glory for someone that could take us in the opposite direction.

Levy - look closer to the boardroom for the problem, Commoli is your man to point the finger at

A quick summary:

Levy: "Oy, Commoli, get over there to Spain and tell that Ramos geezer that we want him. Jol's got no clue and the boy's cost me big time"

Commoli: "Yes boss"

Ramos: "Por favor senior?"

Commoli: "ummmm, we want you at Spurs and we have muchos pesos"

Ramos: "Aiii Carumba senior Commoli, but I will only coach a good team that can get in the Champions League"

The Press: "Is it true Spurs offered you the job Mr Ramos?"

Ramos: "Si, muchos Poundsos amigo, muchos dizzy amounts"

Meanwhile, back at White Hart Lane...

Jol: "Mishter Levy, why am I gitting the shack?"

Levy: "no, no Martin, your job is 100% "safe"

Jol: "Oh, ok then Mishter Levy"

(Jol leaves)

Levy: "Oy Commoli, get back to Spain and up that offer to Ramos will ya? Martin's lost it, he'll believe anything"

Unfortunately, football clubs today are run by businessmen, who have no regard/respect for football itself.

These people are in it for the money, not for the love of the game.

So, tell me over the years, how many owners have Spurs had who are in it for the football?
Sugar?
Bloody businessman who was out to make a fast buck.

Spurs are not alone in this.
Nearly every Premiership side is owned by businessmen.

As a loyal Spurs supporter for more than 35 years, I'm absolutely outraged at the club's treatment of Martin Jol. Even though I live in the US, thanks to satellite TV I've been able to watch almost every Spurs match for the last several years. Jol has taken a team that was basically rubbush to within a hair of the Chamions League in 05/06 (but for some dodgey food before the last match against the hated Hammers we would have made it), and to a solid 5th place finish last year, while making deep runs into the League, FA, & UEFA Cups. To pull the plug on Jol 2 games into the season is ridiculous and stupid, especially with so many top quality players injured/missing for those first 2 matches (e.g. King, Dawson, Lennon, Bale, Boetang, etc.) . You don't see Man U dumping sir Alex just because they only have 2 points from the first 3 matches. That's why they're champs and we're still on the outside looking in.

Great to see the players (Robbo, Bent) rallying around Jol. All the supporters should do the same and flood the club with mails, etc, to stop this madness and support the best manager we've had in many, many years.

Why the comparison with Sir Alec? He was WON trophies and MJ has not. No Manager is appointed to place 5th but to win the league. Spurs started by losing to Sunderland (just promoted), Everton (at WHL of all places) and managed to beat Derby after spending 40M on new players. Try that at any other Company and you will be fired. Don't blame the Board. Spurs is an investment and has to yield dividends. Dividends should be in the form of wins (aka Chelsea, Man U, Arsenal) If I owned the team, I would have fired him after the Sunderland game. Enough of this crap soccer in the name of Tottenham Hotspur MJ is trying to win us over. Now Berbatov is pissed off. How about that Martin Jol? Your best player is tired of poor substitutions, dreadful defense and a grateful dead of a goalkeeper. Decent people would have resigned before getting fired.
I am tired of 5th place finishes. How about winning the damn thing.

Ferguson won nothing for his first 3 years and was 1 game away from being sacked. They stood by him and the rest is history. Only when we stand by our decent managers will they get the experience and learning that they need to take us to the top.

Every time a manager leaves and a new one arrives, it takes time to get to know players, sort things out and settle in - now is not the time and will the next guy be the same as all the others - still no trophies. Jol is hardly any worse than the rest and surely 5th itwo years running is more than we are used to, if we are honest.

The way the board have behaved has been quite appaling... I think everyone agrees with that.

If you look back to Chelsea sacking Ranieri after his last season a lot of people were against it. However Mourinho came in and stepped it up a gear.

If Spurs do get a truly great manager, maybe they can push into the top four and move forward. Jol is a good manager, but he isn't a Ferguson / Mourinho / Lippi etc.

It's harsh on Jol but sometimes tough decisions have to be made for the benefit of the club.

I'm a big Jol fan, I think he's a true leader with a big enough personality to keep the team in line and confidence and focus high.

I just don't understand what they think they'll get if Ramos was to take over? At the very best, a similar level of man management, and a risk that he'll do worse.

Who signed Bent? Who actually looked at Spurs's squad and saw 4 strikers and no left side and opted for a striker? Really believe we'll finish 4th if we keep Jol...even if we loose to Man U.

really not going to rise to that.... mj is a good manager now, and i only think he will get better - he has made mistakes, but then if you asked fergie if he had made mistakes then im sure he would admit to them (djemba-djemba? veron? kleberson?). as people have pointed out (not to sound like a broken record) we HAVE to sign at least one quality left winger, preferably two, to really move on to the next level. if anything stands in our way its that, not the manager.
