The new tyre rules must go immediately other wise Motogp is going to become another Formula one procession, I have been watching Motogp since the days of Schwantz, Rainey and co. I have never seen this sport look so dull and frankly 'boring to watch', we have always been able to say to F1 fans 'yeah but at least the bike racing is close and they can overtake'. If the current trend continuous the fans will get bored and the sport will loose huge amounts of spectators at trackside. please please someone see some sense before it is to late............!!!

On the MotoGP website Loris Capirossi talks about how he made an incorrect choice of front tyre on Friday morning.

After the race in Monday's test session he had the opportunity to use the tyre which was "unavailable" to him all weekend and was significantly faster.

This seems an absurd situation to me - A better tyre was actually at the track but he was unable to use it for the race doh

Forcing riders to use unsuitable tyres stifles the racing IMO - I'm sure this is one of the reasons we seem to be watching processional races at the moment.

This is my first post so go easy.....

MotoGP along with all the other motorcycle racing classes regardless of how many rider aids there are will be more exciting than F1 in my opinion. I used to be an F1 fan until the sport changed from being a race to a load of drivers driving round for a few laps and then going home.
Theres still excitement in a MotoGP race with little overtaking. You can see when a rider is really trying and how the bike is reacting to the riders movements. Theres no real way of seeing that in F1.
I agree with the last comment, Ducati this year have just advanced further and made the rider, tyre, bike package work better than the other teams. Hats off to Stoner this year, hes rode pretty much faultlessly in every race.
I personally think Stoner in a couple of seasons time could do what Rossi has done with Yamaha and develop a lesser bike.

well to be fair the Yamaha is not a great bike this year while the Ducati is the best. So if Rossi had the best bike he would be leading the championship & not complaining about the tyre rule. And lets be fair the tyre rule is only being called into question because Rossi doesn't like it.
Another thing do Bridgestone really have a big advantage over Michelin. I'd say no if you looked at Repsol Honda vs Gresini Honda

Interesting also that the Yamaha is consistantly described as the bike with the best handling...

To be fair Repsol Honda are a full works team and have recieved a whole load of new parts for the last few races which haven't yet filtered down to Gresini, that's why they are currently in better shape.

Regarding handling, Yamaha have always made up for a lack of power by being competative in other areas but for some reason this doesn't seem to be working at the moment in the 800s.

Charleyfarleigh your a man after my own heart! They were exciting days I remember before those years.Harold Daniels road his bike from the boat to the Ulster G.P. with a syrup tin over the exaust to keep it road legal Slightly perforated.Winning the race riding back to the boat wearing his laurel leaves with pride. The tyres then were Avon and Dunlop. The Dunlops were made in Birmingham.Alan Shepard was able to keep up with M.V.Agusta ridden by John Surtees. Riding the Geoff Monty and Dudley Ward special which was a Matchless or A.J.S.Not sure.

Infury8r You and your wisdom are missing the point.I suggested the one tyre rule for closer racing I still believe the results would be similar but much closer racing. The Ducati is the No1 bike at the moment because it is a higher reeving bike therefore more H.P=more speed=faster laps.Except for poor Loris.

Stoner is winning because of the following factors:

- Best bike
- Best tyres
- best electronics

With these in place, Stoner has total confidence in his bike, so is going to be world champ.

I don't think the tyre rule should be replaced, but I completely agree with the rule on ditching rider aids by a CPU. I think this would have changed the outcome of this seasons championship.

Eurosport summed up the issue from Kawasaki's comment to Roger Lee Haydon practising his starts - just hold the clutch in throttle to max and dump the clutch when the lights go green.
