Having read some of these comments, It does lead me to the opinion that some members on here just believe what they read in The Sun or The Sport.

Lets get a few facts straight.

1 - It was Bentleys FULL first season playing over 60 games
2 - Hughes requested Bentleys omission before the squad was even named, Pearce chose to IGNORE that.
3 - Bentley did not feature in any of the qualifying prior to the tournament.
4 - Gabby Agbonlahor missed the tournament as her 'forgot' he was on holiday. Did he not remember the squad would be announced? Yet he gets recalled?
5 - Steven Gerrard is fit to play for Liverpool but not for England?
6 - Bar Beckham, Bentley has been the most in form winger ove Jenas, SWP, Lennon and Dyer.
7 - Bentley chose to tell the truth, not feign an injury.
8 - Bentley took advice from his family, his own manager and SENIOR England pro's before withdrawing.

Its quite disguisting how fickle fans can be, if Bentley gets called up for the next qualifiers, starts the game, scores one and sets up two. If he has an amazing game, the same people who are on here slating him, will be siging his praises. More than likely be publishing artices on here saying he should have always been in the squad. The media would be running around him hailing him 'the next David Beckham' and 'England's Saviour'.

Guy Fawkes was a traitor to this country, Bentley made a decision for the progession and good of his career, that does not make him a traitor.

Some people really need to get a grip on reality.

"Some people really need to get a grip on reality" - Didnt i say that? <smiley>

tombo 1984 u make the most sense out of any of the wannabe football fans who think they know everything. Bentley had a good season and deserves to be in the england squad. Donenrico id love to see you endure the fitness and training scheduales they do week in week out, and your just bitter about there lifestyle because you are probably no good at football and lazy. this debate isnt on how hard it is to be a footballer, but on weather he should have been picked or not. answer is simple. YES

ENGLAND SHOULD FIELD THE STRONGEST TEAM AVAILABLE
IGNORE BENTLEY, IF HE IS TOO TIRED MAYBE HE CAN JUST WATCH THE GAME ON THE TELLY.
WHY IN HELL IS OWEN BEING SELECTED" HE CANNOT BE MATCH FIT!!!!
McCLAREN SHOULD STOP TREATING THESE PRIMA DONNAS WITH KID GLOVES, IT SEEMS LIKE THE TAIL IS WAGGING THE DOG.
IS JIMMY GREAVES STILL WALKING, HE COULD STILL SHOW THESE HARD DONE BABIES A THING OR TWO.
