What do you think? Honestly, I believe he is capable of winning games single handedly and I feel it is a huge mistake to omit him from the T-20 side.

two corrections

Aus:
Hilfenhaus and A Hall for Attapattu and Inzamam as it is batter heavy and these two have retired from shorter version

I am shocked Hall is also not chosen

Who the hell is Bodi? Apparantly when this guy was chosen ahaed of KP at Natal that was the last straw. Now Kallis?

They are taking this quota thing too far

Its a strange one, there is the theory that hes not a team player and is very selfish.....

I personally would give my right arm for him to be English his batting ability is unbelivable

I'm not sure I agree. He doesn't seem to me to score particularly fast.

People need to get out of this notion that we should play our test team + a few others in Pro20 games. Most of the batting test side should not play IMO - only those who we know can score quickly if needed to (ie Pietersen, Collingwood etc.).

I think leaving Loye out is also a big mistake. The selectors have obviously decided they don't like him - not picked for the World Cup and now this

It is a pity that Kallis has been left out of the T20 team. The leading all rounder for a number of years and tremendous experience aswell. Great shame. Kallis however has been under increasing pressure to up his run rate by the media and sadly the inexperience convenor of selectors who has only recently been appointed has listened to them. Kallis is a sensitive player and has not taken this decision easily. A player with his seniority and vice captain to boot should have been consulted whether he felt he could include the T20 in SA busy itinary and that decision should not have been left to Strydom who is new to his job and has little cricketing experience at this level. Poor show SA. This will undoubtedly lead many to speculate regarding the quota system, but I believe Kallis is truely the only world class player SA have at the moment and it would be madness to not do everything possible to accomodate him in the tests and ODI's for the next few years. Bodi I am afraid has been a problem for the SA selectors. He was once picked for the tour to WI but broke his hand and did not play. Since then he has moved all around the country and at times has played well but generally has failed to get close to being selected again. KP's claim that he was rested from the Natal side to include Bodi I feel has made the selectors look at him again. At one stage he was actually a very good spin bowler but now seems to be opening the innings. This is his last chance to try and get a place in the team but I donot think the selector really see him as Kallis' replacement.

This Bodi seems to be a dangerous talisman, first he was selected for Natal over Pieterson, and he quit. Now he is preferred to Kallis which is a pretty dumb decision, even though I have no idea how good this Bodi is.

I agree, reeks of quota

On a cricketing scale Kallis is a bit slow, but it is role to hold a brittle batting line up. Let us say he was dropped on previous reputation than current ability, which is ridiculous as you would expect Coach and Selectors and captain (What is Smith's role in all of this - eliminating the competition?) would know the difference

I also feel very sorry for Hall, he seems to be the perennial fall guy, like Laxman for India

Smith apparently had no say in the Kallis affair. When the team was announced he was asked what he thought about Kallis not being in the team and he said words to the effect that he cannot give a comment. Smith has been a supporter of Kallis so I do not think he is keen to not have his reliability and experience around. Then again Smith was the reason that Klusener finally stopped playing for SA so who knows. The pressure will be on Bodi and he has a honeymoon period with the team starting with a 3 ODI tour to Zimbabwe and he will be hoping to silence his critics. It is strange how Bodi's and KP's careers are so similar in a way. Both started in Natal, both were spinners and then developed into middle order batters and both had international debuts against Zim and now both play for a different country to the one they were born in.

kallis is the best all rounder in the world!
the only all rounder to come close to kallis would be freddie flintoff but in my opinion kallis edges it!

Currently Flintoff is ecelling as a bowler and failing with the bat so

I agree, Kallis who is steady in both categories is probably the best with maybe Jaisuriya challanging him in the 20-20 ODI format

In Tests to be honest I do not see a geniune bowling or batting all rounder in any squad

In ODI, Jayasuriya with 12,000 runs at 90 strike rate and 300 wickets is head and shoulder abobe Kallis. Kallis has a very low strike rate to be an effective ODI bat.

In tests I think one could make the arguement that Kallis is the best all rounder

I GUESS WITH ALL HIS EXPERIENCE AND SEEMINGLY UNPHASABLE EXTERIOR HE WILL BE HARD TO REPLACE.MANY PEOPLE SAY HE CAN'T PLAY THE BIG SHOTS BUT HE USED TO TRY THEM WHEN HE WAS YOUNGER AND HE EVEN HIT A FEW MASSIVE SIXES IN THE WORLD CUP. HE USED TO BE A DECENT DEATH BOWLER BUT THATS FALLEN AWAY A LOT RECENTLY! THE WAY I SEE IT IS THAT CSA WANTED TO GIVE THE YOUNGER T20 "SPECIALISTS " A CHANCE TO PLAY AGAINST INTERNATIONAL OPPOSITION. IT COULD SERIOUSLY BACKFIRE AND WE COULD BE BADLY HUMILIATED BUT THESE YOUNG GUYS HAVE AMAZING ABILITY TOO AND I GUESS IF ITS THEIR DAY THEY COULD REALLY MAKE A NAME FOR THEMSELVES SO I DON'T REALLY MIND THE OMMISSION OF KALLIS!
