i remember a couple of weeks ago when the draw was announced and people expected an arsenal upset. where are those people now? oh wait.. probably on the spuds board crying over berbatovs injury.

You had a big luck, gunners, that that we werent precise enough in the first leg. I wasnt aware of that famous arsenal that time at all. donno why sparta stopped playing in the second leg.. whats more, the fans forgot their main role, i.e. to support the team regardless good or hard times.. You were patient, you waited and took the victory. Congrats.
At least Slavia Prague defeated Ajax in Amsterdam.

Great result for Arsenal who were expected to struggle in this game.
Job only half done though, need to kill it off at home.

It seems that arsenal find away games easier in europe then the prem.
If a team had played like Sparta against arsenal up north, I think the lads would have caved in.
Maybe this is a sign things will be diffrent this season

In the first half i dont think we found our feet until very late on, which was a shame because we have a great side of young, talented players, but when we came out in the second half Mr Wenger obviously must have said some inspiring comments in the dressing room as we played like a different team- passing was great, vision was great and we started playing with our hearts. We got the win and a well deserved lead to take into the 2nd leg. Well done lads.

great display by arsenal!! got a good feeling about champions league this year! should be a good year for us! i think we will surprise alot of people in the league this year aswell!!!! go on the gunners!

Some times i wonder if gael clichy is a left midfielder or a left defender???
He is so skillful and is always running up and down the wing. I wouldn't mind seeing him play left midfielde myself i think with his pace skills and crossing he could be the left midfielder we've been looking for... Dont get me wrong he is great at defending i just wouldn't mind seeing him on left midfield.
has anyone else thought about that???
