Always sad to see anyone have to retire from the game due to injury.

Hopefully he will stay in the game in some form -good luck to him.

Will Miss him deeply, he was our most consistant and best right back i think we have had since the premiership.

Not only was he great to watch going fowrard, and he scored some goals! he was also steady at the back, sometimes rock solid, he always gave 110% and I think was our best buy under John Gregory (not hard to be honest)! lol

I see Radcliffe said he did well coming from Carmarthen. Shame he actually came from Goodwick, just outside Fishguard, an hour away from Carmarthen!

i usually comment on cricket on these boards, and i'm a qpr fan, so my mark delaney knowledge isnt exactly huge.

however, he was a deeply unfashionable player, but gave his all every time i saw him for villa and wales. i felt compelled to write because he was always dependable, usually at right back i think, when wales so nearly qualified for euro 2004. unfortunately, he will be soon forgotten but villa and wales fans may not has sucha reliable defender on their hands for a good while

What an absolute shame I remember mark when he was at Cardiff and he always gave it his all as I am sure he did for AV and Wales.
I wish him all the best and hope he finds a good job in football.

I'm sure all the fans wish him all the best, he was a solid player dedicated to the club. It'd be nice to if Villa could help him start off in the coaching world. maybe see out his contract coach youth at the park, and then take it from there.

best game Delaney ever played was when we beat Italy 2-1. He was class attacking down the wing with Simon Davies. Sadly missed

A dark day for me...he sums up a large part of why I supported Villa through parts of my childhood...a steady player that just had a hunger for the game and didn't need to be in the headlines constantly..he played the way football should be played and it's a huge loss for Villa.
