a improvement is clearly needed in the champions league after last seasons huge dissapointment. so wat a better way to kick off a fresh champions league campain against sparta prague (the team that henry got the record breking goal 187). where is improvement needed i think finishing off teams not missing a few 1 on 1's then after a while it goes in it should be at the least one 1 on 1 then a goal or just score it first time. another thats was needed if a ball is crossed in from a corner no ever does anything with it eg; fulham arsenal had countless corners they crossed all but 1 and the short pass was cleared off the line form kolo toure but thats th prem but if that happens in the champions league it's going to be a short run again for the arsenal

Intertoto will never be scrapped. UEFA get too much money from it as the European pools need it for their summer months' money.

Ideas are interesting, the scrapping of the ECWC was a bad idea as they usually produced good quality finals. Only problem came when they went to the current UCL system and the semi-decent teams went into that. Liverpool would want it back to get to the Grand Slam (All 4 European Club Tournaments) first.

In regards to the the lowest 40 countries. This almost happens already. Look at the UEFA access list. This is normally the decent East and Central European Countries, Scandanavia, Scotland and Belgium/Holland. This almost happens but most of these supported Platini so they had to be appeased. It's the Champions League...only let the Champions automatically qualify and let the rest qualify by playing games.

A Saturday Evening Final would be good as a teacher, but so would a Wednesday final (gives us an excuse not to do any marking).

In a dream world get Europe to have a four day weekend public holiday and have a Final Four with semis on the Thursday and Final/3rd place on the Sunday in the same place. That would be an event

this is a stupid idea

you want the best teams europe playing, no a fluky team who managed to win their domestic cup. i mean teams like tottenham should be in their instead of Rosenberg etc

I always thought the champions league was for the best teams in europe not 4th and 5th place.

Michel Platini u should make improvment between 4th and 7th in other good countries for th CL because Bayern Munich (a very good squad)should of got a chance 2 qualify for the CL

The only thing that needs to be changed is scrapping penalties after a extra time in all competitions.

The resulting finals are becoming boring & predictable - I played in tournaments when i was younger & we had to run with the ball from the half way line & got one shot at beating the keeper within a 30 second timescale. Sounds easy doesnt it?

This really does sort out the more skillful players from the scuffers. It improves finishing no end. why not try it at least in the league cup or something

All but three clubs per country makes sense. It is really idiotic to think that In England,Spain and Italy fourth club will be ignored.Liverpool won the CL in 2005 when they were selected as the fourth club.Arsenal rached CL final when they were selected as fourth.Look what Arsenal did to Sparta - the Czech champions recently. The other leagues including French and German are so weak compared to English, Italian and Spanish leagues they wont even have a a slightest chance to even go through the next round. And how about the media coverage? Will people in the world even know that some club like Steua Bucharest exists? The money from media coverage will dwindle so fast Platini's bald stupid head will spin.He should think much harder and deeper before making such bone head change.

Well, at least people in Romania will know...

laughlaughlaughlaughlaughlaugh

But I agree, drop the inane idea to increase the spots for lower-ranked leagues in the CL.

Well i believe the best format Champions league had was between 1999-2003. When teams had to go through 2 group phases in order to reach Quarter Finals. However knock out format after first group phase has not only reduced overall revenue for clubs but this system has benefited slightly weaker clubs like Porto or Liverpool to come out with surprise European cup victories.
