4_Four_2 (U5834168) posted Aug 12, 2007 McShane was the difference between the two sides. He was magnificent and kept it really simple, old style defending at its best well done that lad. Biggest complement of all was the Berbatov substitution.

danoriordan77 (U7403484) posted Aug 13, 2007 McShane has been a Ireland regular for almost a year now - he was drafted in after Ireland lost 5-2 to Cyprus (shame) and the defence has been solid since more or less - he is such a bargain, if he was English the tabloids would be drooling all over him and he'd be worth £5m a la Baines at this stage

doggsy07 (U9362816) posted Aug 13, 2007 Ha ha ho ho, a month ago when he signed, every Sunderland supporter was up in arms on this site complaining about how crap McShane was and what a waste of money he was. Being from the Republic i'd seen the last few internationals with McShane and Dunne in the heart of the new-look Irish defence was unstoppable in the games against Wales and Slovakia. McShane was the hero for both those days too. Hope you all are believers now.

Down here McShane kept the Albion in the Championship two seasons ago and was eeservedly voted the player of the season. So I was delighted when he signed for Sunderland and could well be the best of the summer buys.

Eaomatrix (U11156945) posted Apr 28, 2008 I'm not mocking his opinion, because at the time people have agreed, and after all it is the distant past, I'm sure I wouldn't think this now, just shows how things change over time. Comment on this article |
