Formula 1 bosses to buy QPR?

Championship Queens Park Rangers

The Times and Daily Mail are today suggesting Renault F1 chief Flavio Briatore and Bernie Ecclestone may be set to buy QPR - repaying our the debts and handing JG a £10m transfer kitty in January...

Is it Christmas already - or April 1st?!

The Daily Mail story:

The Times story (no mention of Ecclestone here...)

Who was who said in a film...

Show me the MONEY!

My nerves can't afford to believe this until the deal is signed.

But in my dreams I'm already spending the £10 mil... Mancienne, Sahar and Jimmy Smith are top of the list to bolster our increasingly credible - and young - team.

Sorry about that, but I really needed to check my calendar to make sure that the date did NOT say "April 1st" after hearing the news about Bernie Ecclestone wanting to take over a Premier League club.

His world is Formula 1, and that is what he is good at, so he should stick to that. ok

Interesting comment on the situation by Sir Les himself in Sporting Life.

If this is true, it's great news. Ecclestone is quite ruthless, but I'm sure he understands the game.

Does anyone know Bernie's actual fortune? I know he's a billionaire. Don't have a clue how much the Renault bloke is worth.

Another good point to be raised is that Ecclestone is a sports man, unlike most of the other investors and is English.

Hopefully he will properly invest and not be like Dunga.

If this does happen I'll join BinLargen running round the city singer QPR songs. No comment from Walk53 yet? He's going to explode, isn't he?

Wikipedia says that little Bernie is worth £2,243m (2006) - and don't forget he sold his house in Kensington Palace gardens for £57.1m in 2004, it's still the most expensive house ever sold. And he never lived it it!!

Flavio is a pauper by comparison, but I'm sure he's got more that a few million that's fallen down the back of the sofa.

Where's Walk53? Having a heart attack brought on by delirium one assumes...

I have to say that if mr eccles cake wants to throw his bursting wallet at loftus road then obviously it will be the biggest thing to happen to rangers in our less than impressive 125 year history. And if his mate at renault wants to help out as well then he is extremely welcome to do so. The only problem then will be persuading lewis hamilton to join renault next season!!!!

Bernie obviously knows he won't get anywhere near Arsenal so has hopefully decided to plunge into the R's with Flavio. With massive financial input and success comes new fans and growing attendances (over a few years). We could easily get to 25,000 in 5 years! (Here's hoping!!!)

It's great to know that there are other Rangers fans out there glued to their Google pages in anticipation of the greatest news the club has had since...well when did something like this happen?. It could be that this latest flurry of press statements from all parties amounts to brinkmanship, perhaps squeezing a few percentage points one way or the other out of the deal. If it does go through won't we be kicking ourselves, or our inflatable Gianni replicas, that we gave in to pressure from Fulham and sold Lee Cook, knowing that this was in the horizon ?.

Keep it tight at the back, 110%, it's a game of two halves etc.
