Gordon is the best keeper on the planet! He has helped Scotland climb from 76th to a naton now in the top 25! Rangers wanted him but didnt have enough, didnt expect him to go to Sunderland as I thought he wld go to a top class club, but I'm so annoyed Rangers dont have 9mil as he'll prob move on in a few years for 20mil.

its actually quite remarkable some of the dross some fans of teams south of the border post on here about 'scottish players'. Will the discrimination and snobby attitude against us ever stop.

John_Larsson - u are totally right. why do we have to constantly hear about 'talent' in England. fair enough the Premiership is one of the top 3 leagues in the world, but anytime a 'scottish player' goes down to play in it, they are immediatley put under the microscope, more so than any of the english players who, lets face it, haven't really done anything yet. You just have to look at the state of the English national team to see they are not the world beaters they think they are. Granted England have some very talented individuals, but as a team, they are mediocre. The one time that a Scottish Club gets an amount deserving of a player, we have to endure small minded comments from arm chair fans who clearly don't have a clue.

If the english teams and players are sooo much better than teams up here, then why do they struggle to win in games that matter...like when Celtic beat Man United, Liverpool, Blackburn for example

watch this space...Craig Gordon will be at one of the big four in the next three or four years...and with the continually growing talent of players in Scotland..expext more to follow....

Ok facts:
1. Gordon is only 7 (SEVEN) months younger than Cech!
2. Chelsea paid 7 mil for Cech when he was 21.
3. Both ManU and Arsenal have younger back-up keepers being groomed for the future.

Top ten keepers in the world for me:

1st. Iker Casillas
2nd. Gianluigi Buffon
3rd. Petr Cech
4th. Edwin Van Der Sar
5th. Pepe Reina
6th. Gregory Coupet
7th. Canizares
8th. Jens Lehman
9th. Victor Valdes
10. Ricardo

This list is just not right at all if these were the top ten keepers I would have Gordon 3rd behind Buffon and Cech. I watch a lot of Spanish football and Iker Casillas is prone to about 3 or 4 shockers a season so for him to be mentioned is a joke. Also why does everyone rate Reina, he is awful no where near top ten in the Premiership never mind the world. Just because he saves penalties doesn't mean he is world class. Santiago Canizares has lost it he is a shadow of the player he used to be. And on the big occasion e.g Chelsea games he made two horrific errors, 1 on each leg. But on the other hand Craig Gordon has been superb whenever Hearts have had a big game in Europe for example against Bordeaux when he kept us in it. AEK Athens when the shots kept peppering in at him. Also against Sparta Prague he produced an outrageous triple save and made countless other saves in the match. He has also been world class for Scotland in every game he has played with them. So I think Craig Gordon will be superb with Sunderland and the Tottenham forwards better have their shooting boots on.

Let the guy settle in and he will himself answer the question whether or not he is worldclass. There are world class strikers to test his ability or lack of it in Drogba, Rooney, Van something etc. A host of midfielders too like Lampard, Ronaldo e.t.c. Just bring on the premier league and forget about the old English/Scottish rivalry.

Gordon certainly isn't the best keeper in the Prem but with the Mackem's leaky defence he'll certainly be the busiest!

'I actually think the premiership is quite devoid of great keepers barring Cech so Gordon has the potential to shine. I mean the england number 1 is paul robinson which makes me laugh everytime I think about it.'

I guess u've forgotten about SHAY GIVEN?the guy has one of the sharpest reflexes i've seen in the football world.Jaaskelainen too isnt bad.
I've not seen much of Gordon, but if Hardman Keane is ready to cough out that much for him, then he must be good.wish him the best in the premiership

Gordon is an excellent shot-stopper, but i witnessed a catastrophic error by him at Celtic Park last season that gifted Celtic the 3 points. Granted, this was uncharacteristic of him, but i keep thinking about it when everyone talks about his 'safe hands'.

As for saying a world-class player/keeper can't come from the SPL... nonsense.

And as for those people who said he hasn't proven himself at the highest level... clean sheet against a fantastic France side, with Henry et al.

Good signing, price is a bit inflated but hey, that's the prem for you.

You can't include a list of top world keepers without Shay Given, who is undoubtedly up there. I think the Premiership has the best spread of good keepers. Cech, Given, Jasskelainen, VDS and now Gordon, who is a top quality keeper. Italy has the best in Buffon but the rest like in Spain are prone to errors, even Casillas who is top class is prone to faults.
