Gerrard Impressed by Leiva

Premiership Liverpool

comment on the article

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has predicted a bright Anfield future for new midfielder Lucas Leiva.
The young Brazilian is set to make his Reds debut against Portsmouth in Hong Kong today but he's already shown enough in training to convince Gerrard that the club have made another shrewd signing.

"From what I've seen of him so far on the training pitch he's got everything you need in a Liverpool player; good touch, good passing and he's also a good lad off the field," said the skipper.

"He's only young but I've no doubt that he's got a bright future at the club and it's good to have him onboard. He's captain of the Brazil under-20s team and so obviously has ability.

"I expect him to be knocking on the door of the first team before too long and hopefully, in time, he can help us win many trophies."

With Gerrard, Alonso, Sissoko, Mascherano and Leiva i really feel i wouldn't worry about injuries or suspensions in this department as much as before.

no injuries and we still finished 3rd losing 10 matches out of 38. And you cant boast about annihilating arsenal, when they did a better job against us.. as did everton beat us by the same margin

And it makes no difference about 99 coz it was so long ago, which begs the question, why do loads of liverpool fans like you keep going on about teams of the past?? Hypocracy perhaps?! Any of the really great teams of the last few years anyway, have been consistent in their line ups, like Man U and Chelsea of the last few years, and the great arsenal team of a few yrs ago.

liverpool fans have become too good about argueing about their team, about how good they are, youre convincing, you raise some good points backing liverpool, as do many of the fans here, shame we cant just use the same arguements as the other top English teams do; "Let the football do the talking".

Arsenal did a better job...by finishing 4th, behind us, two seasons in a row, with nothing to play for by Novermber?

I suspect we will do exactly as you suggest and 'let our football do the talking' in the coming season.

Until then its all debate and opinion isn't it...if you don't like that, then why are you on here?

If you don't give a stuff about our history, then why don't you go and support Man Utd?

History makes us what we are, and indeed, from a philosophical point of view, history is the only thing that is real.

Goodbye and fair travelling, I'm off now.

did arsenal spend 40 million?? and did i say arsenal?? and note that i said the 'top teams', i did not mention arsenal. who cares about the history, i wasnt born many decades ago, so therefore i dont care. im not going to boast about a team i wasnt around for. Liverpool fans are a laughing stock because of fans like you. Lets hope that we dont have an average season like one that youd settle for.

Sorry...last off topic post for me.

"no injuries and we still finished 3rd losing 10 matches out of 38. And you cant boast about annihilating arsenal, when they did a better job against us.. as did everton beat us by the same margin"

So you did mention Arsenal didn't you?

And you still don't seem to grasp the difference between money spent and the NET spend...NET spend includes money WE get through SALES, and is a much better figure to use...

"who cares about the history, i wasnt born many decades ago, so therefore i dont care. im not going to boast about a team i wasnt around for. Liverpool fans are a laughing stock because of fans like you."

Maybe your attitude to history explains why you come across as such an arrogant, ignorant little twerp.

Fans like you are the reason many people still think football fans are moronic neanderthals...and to be honest, when I talk to folk like you, I can see why.

I was went to a few U-20 World Cup matches while was on vacation in canada, and i got to see first hand what kind of player the reds are getting. Eventhough he is no Giovanni Dos Santos, this guy has the best vision and touch I have seen from a midfielder at the u-20 World Cup. I strongly feel he will be a exceptional Box to Box midfielder to go along with the brazilain playing style

He could be a good player or a flop as we need 1 a season. I say that if he isn't the best we will make a profit on him if we sell him next summer
