Baines deal

Premiership Sunderland

I think we all agree he would be a good signing with only Danny Collins as cover at left back currently, but will Keano get his man? He's been chasing long enough and could have waited too long trying to get a cut price deal that other clubs have been alerted. Whelan has allegedly told Baines to speak to Sunderland and possibly the scum also and said he will beat any deal offered by either club.

So, will we get Baines? Yes or No??? And if not, who should we turn our attentions to? I for one don't want Collins starting the season as first choice left-back

Bit of a kick in the teeth for Sunderland. But it happens. Hopefully he'll sign for Newcastle, we need a LB

Well from the stuff i've read he won't be going anywhere, he has two years on his contract and wants to leave after that.

big sam played nzogbia at left back against carlisle at the weekend.Does'nt say much for his faith in our regular left backs,we need baines. Wish he'd put in a bid. Also looks like dyers off to london for family reasons, any thoughts?

No disrespect to Sunderland but I can understand why Baines doesnt want to join them, after all I think they'll struggle this season. Could he be holding out for move to Everton? Looks as though he is holding out for move to a team that will challenge for European places every year.

I just hope we have a half decent season and 'surprise' a few people! I would be particularly happy to beat a few so called 'big or glamour' clubs if only to prove a point or two. I have faith in RK as do the fans. If the players play to their potential and we show we can make the step up as did Reading it would be interesting to see how reluctant any prospective transfer target would react in the January window. I am sure RK will enjoy ramming the criticsm down throats by playing and winning. How mags think they can gloat after the millions wasted without winning anything still think they are something special surprises me. We have had some tough times it's about time there was a change in fortune. Obviously John Hall was worried enough to sell up and move on! Let another rich mug waste his money!

you have just come up why would baines want to join a team fighting relegation no offense but the reason why he rejected because he knows everton are knocking on the door and we are top six team in europe. P.S WHO WOULD YPU PICK ??? BE HONEST !

Thanks evertonfcphil for providing the long lost ‘scouse humour’ we hear so much about but never see any evidence of.
Not even scousers want to sign for Everton even if there was any money left after they've paid for all the night security round the ground..

Stick with your own kind Phil, you deserve each other.

well was anyone surprised that Baines said no just like Nugent hes hoping to stay in the northwest and play for Everton although god knows why as i found watching them very boring but as Liverpool is now a spanish club and not a scouser team i suppose its to be expected that local lads want to play for Everton.Personally i feel RK should be looking in Europe for players as home based players are A overpriced and B not that good .Players from Holland and Germany are just as good and want less money and whats more want to play for the club that signs them not use them as a lever to get another club to bid
