It is a loan deal because it is better for us this way. We get a season to see if he settles and fits in with our play and squad. If so, we will have a pre agreed fee worked out now and he can sign permanently at the end of the season (or before like Howard did last season) and if he fails then we can get rid, having only paid his wages for a year rather than a fee on top. We are skint so we need to be careful who we spend on - lowest possible risk.

I watched Steven Pienaar alot during his Ajax days, he looked a great player then who could turn the game around if he 'had his day'. Could be a great deel for Everton this!!! One to watch this season!!!

I think this is a good signing. Well done Moysey, a quality proven player in european football, just had a bad season with something to prove. £5.5 million pounds cheaper than Richardson.

Was excellent in his ajax days....poor for Dortmund tho!! lets hope he is another arteta. Cant help thinking "poor mans fernandes" But im ever the optimist!! just need a left back and a target man!! prob another 3 players aswell but here's hoping.

an excellent acquisition he is a talented footballer, good marker and good distributor...remember champions league Arsenal Vs Ajax he outplayed Viera ...a bit too small though Football in the premiership is Physical.

Steven Pieneear doesnt have one International Cap he has got a lot ...actually after Benni Mccarthy we can regard him as one of South Africas Star Players.

Yes - a good deal - we know that Everton are skint so any diamond however rough is worth the gamble of a loan. Let's expect rather than hope that the guy will find where the goal is and help us go on a good run in Europe.

I think its a good deal as he is only at Everton on loan. I hope it goes well for Pienaar unlike his ex-Ajax teammate Van Der Meyde. In the 2002/2003 season Pineaar was one of the main players in the Ajax midfield as part of the Ajax team that some considered as dark horses for the champions league that season. Dont forget Pienaar held his own against Pirlo/Gattuso when Ajax went out of the champions league in the san siro due to Inzaghis injury time winner. Pienaar had scored the goal which was actually taking Ajax to the champions league semi-finals until Inzaghis last gasp goal.
