Jose Fonte new Palace centre-backCrystal Palace by Mantorras (U1958208) 19 July 2007 Jose Fonte is in London to have a medical for Crystal Palace. He arrives on loan from Benfica and is a 24 y old portuguese centre back. Palace have a buying clause of 1 million euros. Fonte played last season at Estrela da Amadora, also on loan from Benfica. People thought he would get a chance at Benfica this season, due to his good displays, but instead he comes to England. Good signing for Palace. Tadworth Eagle (U3937909) posted Aug 1, 2007 I didn't think he looked too bad last night, and certainly more forward thinking than Cort, which is the one problem I think he has. If he can keep looking up the pitch rather than passing sideways then I'm happy. Once he settles it'll all be good. Comment on this article
