Your dream F1 calendar of 18 racesFormula One by petrolhead98 (U7718822) 19 July 2007 New tracks are the hot topic in F1 if we forget about Stepneygate, we have Abu Dhabi, Singapore, Valenica and last week we heard that we won't be returning to Indianapolis in 2008. But if it was up to you to make a true World Championship, which tracks would you include on your calendar? There are only 3 rules: Latest 10 commentsRead members' comments or add your own

gunner-rossmcd (U6365022) posted Jul 19, 2007 I wouldn't mind seeing the full nordeschliefe used in F1 again... have something that'll truly test a drivers mettle.... how they'd manage qualifying though is a bit of a noodle scratcher, but regardless, i love the track, and have personally done many a lap posted Jul 19, 2007 i can't stand Silversone, I just can not help it.I went there for the BGP and it was horrible there. In my opinion i think we should have a street circuit running through London or Brands Hatch but NOT Silverstone. call me what you like but Silverstone isn't really much to Monza or Le Mans and that is what we want to be happening competing with the big boys, if LH can do it then the many people can.

brgf1nutter (U8112979) posted Jul 19, 2007 A few thoughts of my own: bringing back the old Hockenheim circuit is probably a non-starter, it cost enough to create the new track and rebuilding the old one would cost mucho dosh and employ 50 JCBs for weeks - not even Bernie would bankroll that one. The Nordschleife similarly no chance - far too dangerous and the modern F1 cars would aeroplane off into the boonies at the first bump. Spa, Monaco, Canada, Portugal, Monza, fine where they are; where to hold the French race: definitely not Le Mans - it's scary enough with the sports cars doing 220 mph down Mulsanne, F1 cars with their power:weight ratio could be doing 260, and at that speed someone doing a Peter Dumbreck into the trees wouldn't survive. Paul Ricard would be OK, but with a similar caveat re using the full Mistral straight - things have moved on a bit since the last time F1 cars went there. F1 at Brands again - it's a bit tight these days, Donington would get my vote. Bring back Imola and the San Marino race - despite the unhappy memories, it's a great track. Brno in the Czech Republic is fine for bikes and DTM, for F1, a bit too up and down, modern F1 cars prefer it flat. USA: Laguna Seca: going off the edge of The Corkscrew in an F1 car might be a problem, and I know that ChampCars race there, but they're somewhat less sophisticated areodynamically, plus it's a tad short at 2.2 miles, an F1 car would probably get round in about 1 minute, and that's too short. Road America is rather out in the sticks, people who complained about getting to Magny Cours might have similar complaints, it's a three-hour drive at least from Chicago Airport, and also at 4 miles, the lap is probably too long.

petrolhead98 (U7718822) posted Jul 20, 2007 Ah yes, my mistake though you'd have to admit the word does sound German. It's the modern association with DTM that caught me out, if I were to have one more race in Europe that track would probably be top of the list.

redneckchef (U8940361) posted Jul 20, 2007 What's this about 2.2 miles being too short a lap and then 4 miles being too long? I thought if you got a really good circuit it would be nice to watch the guys put on a great race in great scenery. I'm sure that F1 could survive back in the US if a real course was used. Why the hell would anyone want to use the road course at Indy, everyone including the Indycar drivers said it sucked.

GVilleneuve (U8652312) posted Jul 20, 2007 May nobody forgets Imola. Imola is a unique circuit for race. Everything there suggests motorsport and incredible races. The track is not in well conditions but it can be replaced. It is only tarmac. Feelings has no price at all. Remember, Imola has the record of spectators attendance in Europe: 192000.

Regazzoni28 (U3904116) posted Jul 20, 2007 Perhaps if Silverstone waas converted back to the original pre-Woodcate chicane version. It's still not a match for Brands Hatch with its sweeping corners and rises and dips. I'd also go for classic circuits like Spa, the original Osterrreichring, Zandvoort, switch the Aussie race back to the Adelaide street circuit, Elkhart Lake and Laguna Seca are both good but Long Beach was a great street circuit. I'd love to see F1 around Le Mans. Jarama or Jerez in place of Barcelona. Hungary has had a lot of great races as well as processions - Mansell '89, Boutsen '90, Hill '97. Suzuka is still great. Monaco obviously, but why not try Pau. And the old Nurburgring??? Why not throw in the Isle of Man TT circuit as well...
