City reject Besiktas Vassell offer

Premiership Manchester City
comment on the article

On city's website.

Untill we get loads of wingers, we should not even consider letting him go (unless we get offered silly money) because he can do a job for us on either wing.

The one thing you need to know about Vassell is that he suffers from lack of confidence. When he's fully confident he can score terrific goals like the one he did for England V Holland.

Trouble is, under Pearce he was played out of position, wasn't enjoying himself and lacked confidence.
Sven actually believes in the lad, and this may just be what Vassell needs to kick-start his career again.
I for one am expecting a much better season from Vassell than last.

Just one thing though... as a Villa fan - keep him off the pitch against us. He just loves scoring against us.....

How much do they want for him? I heard something like £1.7M at that i think you should keep him. Id have him back at Villa in a second at that price.

If you play him as a striker and not a winger he will score more. He is good to use as a sub because of his pace which is how England used him and it was successful.

I wouldnt be upset if Villa re signed him for about £1.5M infact i would say that it was smart buisness on MON's part.

Im sorry i dont like Sven but dont mind City hope you boys have a decent season and finally score at home! LOL

Vassel just needs confidence, then he will get around 12 goals if he plays up front regular.

I would only accept somewhere between 4 and 5 million for him.

it must've been a really small bid for them to reject it....either that or Sven's just trying to keep his numbers up 'til he gets decent players

We should not be even considering getting rid of Vassell until we get rid of Dabo, Dickov and Corradi. Those three had no way near a tenth of the success as Vassell last season! Corradi played up front every time he played and he only scored 3 and I certainly didn't see him chasing a player all across the pitch and diving in to challenge them! When Vassell played on the wing he literally threw himself into his position, he fought for every ball.

If we are going to get rid of him, we need to get rid of some far more unsuccessful strikers before we do.

i like the bloke, but i thought he was about 34.
But he is quick, hard working and gets us 6 points a season from villa.
Also, as a back up i think he is worth more than we will get for him
