Park injury blow

Premiership Manchester United
comment on the article

Park Ji-Sung is out for at least another six months with his knee injury. Will that have any impact on Man Utd's title hopes next season?

All of the people saying Park is lightweight and average don't understand what it takes to win a title.

What do you want us to do, sell off all our "average" players? Fletcher, O'Shea, Park, Smith, Brown, Heinze and even Richardson all played their part in last year's title win.

Just to reiterate, we need squad players and Park is a squad player. He'll come in at short notice and do a good job on either wing. He can actually beat people and send them the wrong way, and he has the ability to pester opposition players. He's a valuable player and in now way would he be sold.

Well said Royston Keaney (kronix). Squad players are essential to every good side, especially Man U as last season showed.
In my oppinion, Park is the best of these players that can come in at short notice.

Park is a quality player full of energy and if you saw his goals last season, he has lady luck on his side!! I'm a massive fan of Park, Fletcher, O'Shea (best of the bunch), Brown. They're they players that makes a good team great. They're above average players that don't mind being on the bench. They could go to a club like Everton or Newcastle and walk into the first team but they're with us as quality back ups!

Rossi's left peg, you do not have to insult people just because they have a different opinion to yourself. Giggs was one of our best players last season in my opinion.

big fan of Park exciting player, always does his job well, he tends to have good runs in the team however he needs to stop gettin injured or we cud be looking at another case like saha ie. very good but too injury prone

Murphyisgod - Thank you for proving my point right anyone who compares fletcher to scholes obviously hasn't got a clue. I think manu should play fletcher and park in every game that way they wouldn't win anything.

Are you all fu**cking insane, Giggs was fantastic last season! Scholes, Ronaldo, Vidic, Rooney, Giggs and Ferdinand were United's five most important players (and perhaps even in that order, I think Scholes was outshined by Ronaldo but not necessarily outplayed). He ran out of steam in the spring, absolutely, but let's admit that everyone was pretty rubbish towards the end. He's been running up the wing for fifteen years, naturally he's going to get tired, and United on the whole were looking pretty stretched. Last year he was as good as he ever was, and anyone who doesn't think so should just go watch the Scottish League!

I think people have forgotton what a good overall season Giggs had and have just remebered the games against Chelsea and Milan end of the season when he was gash.

Giggs won two player of the month awards last season, finished 4th in the player of the year poll, was in the team of the season and was one of our best players, Park was injured for six months of the season and although one of our best squad players is nowhere near Giggs for influence or ability. Giggs, Scholes and Ronaldo were all very close to our best attacking player of the first half of the season. It was after when Ronaldo blow the rest away.

I think Park is a good player, but seeing Man Utd squad it's a bit of a stretch to say Park's absence would affect them this season. I reckon the impact would be minimal. Man Utd has such a depth, risking unsettling some players. He probably did SAF a favour by ruling himself out for a while by a timely injury.
