Coaching Pakistan

Recent and the most up to date reports suggest that the tall wiley pacey fast bowler from Australia Geoff Lawson will coach Pakistan.
I believe it's the first time, well the first time since i have been watching cricket, that an Australian cricket coach is coaching Pakistan.

I welcome this wholey as he has inspired many greats such as the Waughs and co. in his time coaching an Australian club side he has performed well instilling discpline and commitement.

And being an Aussie he will not shy away from the challenge of tackling the maverick characters of the pakistani team.

I think this is yet another good decision from the PCB since the World Cup debacle to get Pakistan cricket on track, an Aussie coach, will emphasize on aggression, commitement and discplne, aswell as intense fitness and practice, the rest will fall into place.

What do u pakistani fans, or any other cricket fans think about this decision?

P.S (official announcenemt from the PCB is on Monday)

I'm also one of the thousands of ppl interested in finding out how Geoff Lawson goes about his work with Team Pakistan. For one, lets be clear we're all expecting miracles...and why shouldn't we...an Australian is going to coach Pakistan and it might turn out to be a winning combination..the fire with fire, never say die approach to Cricket is what we all love and want to see. But I'm disappointed at the so called "senior players" in the side who made sure Lawson was contracted ahead of Dav Whatmore, looks like our lazy bums aren't ready to leave their comfort zones. I hope Lawson makes them work even harder. As for the "steeliness", I'm disappointed if the news that he is a "hands-off" coach is true.He won't be able to do much in that case i suspect!

''Geoff Lawson can't make your team do that because Pakistan has to find its own way to be good and be consistent.''

Hard work, perseverence and discpline always works no matter who you are from Burma to Argentina, from England to Bangaldesh.

Australians aren't demi gods, that only they can work hard and be discplined, Pakistan has to get out of this inferiority complex

I think it is a good move of choosing and australian, if want to beat the best u need this type of coach. I think pakistan have been flopping in the one days recently sice shoaib malik has been batting at 6 and not three. They used to win most of their math and have a aggressive approach when he used to bat at 3 and not 6.

I remember Lawson as a player getting hammered to all parts of the ground by Clive Lloyd's Windies. I also remember him batting (and he was okay at that too!), and in one particular Test match in Australia, he kept knocking off the bails, and the umpire kept putting them back on!
yikes
Those were the days before TV coverage became what it was, and home umpires were a horror show....

But he always was a feisty campaigner, and hopefully he can translate some of that aggression into his new charges.

Geoff I believe will have a great test in the Australia's series. He is a bowler if Pakistan performs consistently under him then i think his place will be justified automatically, there are people who think local coach would have been a better choice .Pakistan's problem is that they are a very talented poor side they have one of the best pace attacks I feel second to none even then they fail, his approach should be to get the best out of Sami who promises a lot but delivers very small. Geoff i believe must make the attack a very aggressive and hostile pace attack if he can do this i feel his place is justified and his critics will be silenced. Mr Geoff best of luck i don't go on statistics i believe you will turn this tremendously talented poor side into tremendously talented best side. Best of luck.
