Khan's Got A Long Way To Go

comment on the article

Khan's fight on Staurday night against Willie Limond proved to everyone that Khan has got a very long way to go. I'm not a big fan of boxing but I've always supported Khan ever since I first saw him at the Olympics and last night was a wake up call for me.

He is only 20 years old and he was shoved into the limelight at a very young age so unfairly there is plenty of expectation put on his very young muscly shoulders.

Hopefully people won't dismiss him as another wasted talent because we've all seen British stars hyped up in the media (think Jenson Button, Tim Henman...etc) and fall flat on their face.

Amir is a great talent and his lightning fists are what sets him apart from others but he's still learning.

Willie Limond was no amateur so it wasn't as if Khan was fighting a nobody. To come from being knocked down in one round to knocking down your opponent in the next took some guts and if Khan can learn from his mistakes (like improving his defence) he can become a great fighter.

What are your opinions??

Hmmm... Seem to remember a certain Cassius Clay being knocked down By good 'ol 'Enry Cooper... who, again, wasn't the hardest puncher in the division at the time. Clay got up and finished him off and went on to become arguably the greatest boxer of all time.

SPECIAL_SK

Yes but didn't Ali use a bit of gamesmanship to delay the fight. We've all heard about the gloves stunt he pulled. Pitifuldoh

Special_SK, I hope Amir fufills all his potential, but Cooper was a considerably harder puncher in his division than Limond in his.

I agree he can become one of the best of british and win a world title one day if he improves. And he will improve.

What do people make of the claim that Limond is alleged to have made that Khan benefitted from a 'long count' (13 secs)?
