Brilliant performance by the pair, really chuffed for Jamie having lived in his brothers shadow the past 2 years.

I was wondering though does the mixed doubles results have an impact on his doubles rankings? I see Jamie's up to 33 in the world doubles ranking, but i'm assuming it's only his mens doubles perfomances that count is that right?

About the issue of seeding for mixed doubles, I believe it is calculated through adding up the doubles ranking of the two players. Them winning today wont have an effect.

The events that carries ranking points (though I am not certain) are the men's and women's doubles.

I think that's exactly right Ruggers. Probably because the separate tours would make mixed doubles ranking rather complicated.

Yes great performance - I thought Bjorkman played poorly for someone with his experience, but still a great performance by the pair.

Hopefully they will team up again in the future, as there was an obvious chemistry there.

Finally something for us Brits to cheer about!

I doubt it, Jankovic has her commitment to singles. Yet Murray can get another good partner for Mixed Doubles after this performance.

*Mixed Doubles as expected carry no ranking points. Murray takes 150 points for reaching the last 16 in the Men's Doubles. He has risen to a career high 29.

Congratulations to Murray and Jankovic they played brilliantly! Maybe they will actually be seeded next year for the same competition if Jankovic whats to be his partner again.

I'm very pleased for both Jelena and Jamie. What I found refreshing is the manner in which they played each of their matches. Good grace, great humour and with that bit of "will they, won't they" thrown in. Their good humour extended to post-match interviews and the manner in which they dealt with media questions about their "relationship". I deduce from their post match interview that they may well be back to defend their title next year. I sincerely hope so. Maybe I will stay in the country this time next year, after all!

Seeding is based on adding the doubles ranking of the two players, them being defending champions wont have an effect.

Which is completely stupid imo. Under the old informal seeding system being defending champion would have been taken into account by the panel rather than simply using rankings.
