Wimbledon - day 13

comment on the article

Well, somehow the All England Club have managed to pull it off and reach men's final at Wimbledon on time.

And it is of no real surprise to find seeds one and two, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in the limelight.

But who will win? Is Federer set to equal Bjorn Borg's record of five consecutive victories on the hallowed grass? Or will Nadal come through?

And don't forget that Jamie Murray is in the final of the mixed doubles straight after Fed v Rafa - Murray is the first Brit in over 20 years to reach a Wimbledon final.

Murray is playing with Jelena Jankovic in a scratch pairing - can they complete a fairytale ending to their first tournament together?

Richoho, could you explain to me why such a spurious record has been achieved just only by 3 players in history?!

Could I affirm without getting bullied by the blind Federer hooligans that Federer is not the best player on all surfaces? Does he have any French open?

Richoho are you suggesting that Roland Garros is not a respected Grand Slam?! Amazing !!!

A classic - played by undoubtadely the 2 greatest ever tennis players. Like in all sports, standards improve, and nobody has played to a higher standard than these two. Great stuff!

I have come to comment of the patent unfairness of the officials at Wimbeldon refusing to give all the men an equal chance at the title. I do not think Roger Federer won at the all England Club this past Sunday with his week of rest. He should have had to play just as many matches on consecutive days as the rest of the guys. The other men including Nadal had to play so much tennis that by the end the body was breaking down tendanidous meant that he could not in the end utilise the full force of his body. The all England Club would not allow him to have extra day of rest because they saw their profit as more important than human beings stretched to their limit. Yes Roger's trophy and record will say 5 but judging from Rafael's third and fourth sets stretching Roger wide off the base line and playing towards his weaker back hand, Rafa would have won with that extra day of rest. Shame on the all England club for cheating the men's side of their fair opportunities to win.

Definitely he was robbed he needed to rest like anyone playing on consecutive days and then he would have won.

Auguri how many Surfaces has Nadal won Grandslams on???? Exactly, point proven.

Miryam, i agree with the way the schedules was done in being unfair, however, i feel it would of been an equal disadvantage to not play for the length of time that Federer didnt. Remember, he got a bye because Haas was injured. It was luck of the draw, plus Federer didnt have a warm up tournament, he lost the French Open final and then rested and went straight into Wimbledon. I feel if he had been fresher he would of beat Nadal within 4 sets.

I watched the final match, it was fantastic.
World no.1 Roger Federer is the best and he can beat all the records in the near future.

...maybe because Federer has certain standards that he wishes to keep - and I hope he does the same again this year 2008 since there is no doubt he will be in the Final again. Federer is not a sheep so sets his own standards by which he lives and does not follow the behaviour of some others I could name.
