Masters Cup in London!

Great news for UK tennis fans - the Masters Cup will be hosted at the old Millennium Dome (now re-branded as the 02 arena) for 4 years, starting 2009!

Fantastic!

And maybe a great opportunity to show Britain and its media that professional tennis takes place all year round and not just for two weeks at Wimbledon...

Yes finally we have something interesting and tennis-related to talk about. For all the hand-wringing about getting young British players into the top 100, this is bound to be a big boost. Four years of the top form players in the world coming to London has got to be inspiring hasn't it? And hopefully Andy Murray will be there for all four. All we need now is for the BBC to promise to cover all the matches...

Excellent news. ok

Great news indeed. At last the Dome is being put to good use!

Indeed - I was at the new cinema there on Saturday night and had a wander round, and although it's not entirely open yet it looks like a very impressive venue.

Plus London is considerably easier to get to from Scotland than Shanghai is!

Just a thought though, Wouldn't it have been a good idea to hold this event away from London to try and spread some interest around the country.

Good to see the Dome is finally going to be used for something that people can really appreciate.

I think my name isn't Earl is right. Lets see the WTA's finale there as well.

Let's hope Andy will be involved from a British view point.

Interestingly the Radio 5 Live guy (forget his name) claimed on the radio this morning that Tim had been involved "many" times in this year end event. Sorry but a couple of occasions doesn't add up to many in my book (unless my memory is failing me and I missed other appearances), it's actually closer to several so let's not exaggerate things please.

Perfect. Hopefully by 2012 a few people will know that Tennis isn't played solely on grass, and that the season lasts more than the 4 weeks from Queen's to the end of Wimbledon...
It's got to be a step towards our becoming a credible tennis-playing nation.
