Day Eight at Wimbledon

Should be an interesting day's play if the weather stays fine for once... have to say, though, the forecast doesn't look too hot. Fingers crossed anyway. The order of play can be found here:

STOP THE ANIMAL NOISES!!!

Really enjoying the tennis despite the weather. However, the animal noises are starting to bug me! Why do the players grunt & yelp when they play? It is unneccesary & clearly is not simply physical exertion as they turn it on & off!

Venus sounded like a chicken screaming each time she hit the ball. Very off-putting for Morigami - she should have complained & Venus given a warning.

I like tennis but without the ridiculous sound effects!

Unfortunately British sport is consistantly blighted by bigwigs making idiotic decisions. Who can forget West Ham inexplicably not getting points docked, or Sven Goran Erikkson being given a billion dollar contract to manage England? (And McClaren getting the chance to manage England at all?)

Tim Henman was probably our best chance to win Wimbledon in decades, but the powers that be never did him any favours, persistantly scheduling his matches for after 5pm which gave him problems with rain and bad light. It certainly cost him a place in the final that time against Invanisevic.

I for one are just glad that we have got a decent amount of play today, and given the fans something to cheer. I know quite a few people who have turned up and hardly got to see any tennis this year.

It is good for the tournament that Nadal went through - let's be honest, a Soderling V Youzhny contest could have been played on court 14 with the boys singles matches nobody would have cared. With Nadal V Youzhny, all of a sudden we have a game on, and I'm sure an exciting one at that!

Vamos Rafa

the BBC [text] editor says Sharapova grunts too much but its OK for the Williams sisters to grunt - are you biased or what? Come on Henin, get it over already!

I wasn't a huge Henin fan until today... (Don't you just love to wind up those 'Williams-haters' haters?!)

I wonder why there are only Williams haters and no Henin haters. Go Serena my girl.
