SuttonDon you says "you no longer have anything I want" so what's the point coming on here? Maybe you're right about MKD not being a continuation of WFC in a legal sense - so what? The Football League recognizes MKD so too, as loughtonmkdon points out, does the FSF.

loughtonmkdon I've had another look at your response to SuttonDon where you take issue with him on ' "...now that the colours, badge, name Wimbledon and honours have been discarded by the franchise..." I would like to know how you come by this conclusion as it is completely dishonest. ' while I wouldn't use the word 'discarded' it is true isn't it that when Wimbledon moved to MK they played in yellow and blue, had a crest with a double headed eagle and played under the name Wimbledon FC and now none of this is true? I may not like the tone of SuttonDon's post but on those points at least isn't saying "completely dishonest" a little wide of the mark?

Fair comment, laughingdon but the word 'discarded' is wrong. There's little point getting into a semantic argument but the tone of the article implies wrong-doing by MK Dons; as I remember it the change of kit and badge was mandatory on the official change of name from Wimbledon FC (which it was at the time of the first game at the NHS in October 2003) to the FA accepting the change to MK Dons. Please correct me if I'm wrong on this point.

I do recall us being accused at one time of not respecting the memory of Wimbledon FC at the same time as being accused of claiming Wimbledon's honours as MK Dons'. Whichever way we turn one or other of those slurs is thrown back at us which is why all credit to the FSF for recognising this and brokering a compromise.

My objection to Sutton (and others) is that they refuse to accept conciliation and compromise although I do acknowledge that they are at least engaging in discussion now where a few months ago all we ever got on 606 was endless slagging off.

I understand where you're coming from loughtonmkdon, the badge change was unavoidable: http://www.bbc.co.uk/threecounties/sport/2003/04/15/wimbledon_logo.shtml

The change of name and colours I'm not sure about, I can't see why if a club changes their name they would be forced to change colours too. The name change I believe was Pete's choice although many (most?) MK Dons fans objected. So it's not really fair to blame MK Dons fans who weren't consulted for 'discarding' the name.

The article is interesting insofar as it would appear that the problem lay with the Wimbledon FC badge from the 1970s, not with the change to the new MK Dons badge.

I had no idea about the college of arms in relation to football insignia, certainly an interesting area of study, thanks for the link. ale

A few points. In as much as there was no reason for the kit colours to be changed from yellow & blue, I would argue that they were 'discarded' by Winkleman. Similarly, despite the strong recommendation of the FA Commission, the name Wimbledon was similarly 'discarded' in as much as it was removed, without consultation with the 'fans' as was promised by Winkleman. I have at no point claimed this was the fault of the franchise supporters. And, personally, I've never called for the franchise to respect the traditions of my football club, since in by moving it to Milton Keynes, you've already disrespected one of the fundamental traditions in a way unprecedented in football (and that's before we get to issues like the renaming). You may want compromise & conciliation loughtonmkdon. So might the FSF. And the spineless FA Commission. But Wimbledon supporters don't. What happened to us & our club was wrong. And we will not forgive nor forget about it.

Fair comment, Sutton - I think we're just going to have to agree to disagree. I respect what you've done at AFC, setting up a club from scratch is an impressive achievement and I wish you all the best. Similarly I completely agree that what happened to you and your club was wrong. Just to re-iterate it's not us that did it to you.

I agree with what Loughton said. We had nothing to do with moving your club up the m1 and we wish you all the best. What you've done is a great achievement. Please just back off the insults on us because it really is boring!

Did you know on Football Manager we aren't even down as rivals! Disappointing!!!

Btw Loughton, how do you feel knowing you are going to have to drive to home games now rather than walking! From a Gt Holm lads perspective, it is a bit irritating!!!

We'll probably park in Denbigh Rd (near the Marshalls office) unless there are restrictions. Plan B is to get a lift or a bus down Watling St then walk. Plan C is a bike ride down the redway near Watling St but it's not particularly cycle-friendly once you get past the Bowl.

I wish someone at the club or MK Council got their act together and produced a travel-guide of the quality of Shrewsbury's for their new ground. steam

I expect there'll be more information available at tomorrow's ramp-up match v Chelsea reserves.

Problems will arise on a Saturday afternoon when all the women go off to do the shopping and a game is on! Howe packed is the ASDA car park going to be!!!

I can't imagine any decent travel being put on. There is a bus' Only Entrance round the back end opposite Mount Farm, but can't imagine them putting on anything... Unless a park and ride is planned? Maybe this will be a new stop on the city to bletchley bus route?
