Twenty/20 Team

One-day internationals England

After watching England's fairly abysmal performance last night, it seems clear that England weren't picking the best 20/20 team. My team for the 20/20 world cup is currently:

D Maddy
M Loye
M Trescothick
K Pietersen
P Collingwood (C)
M Prior (W)
A Flintoff
D Maschrenhas
J Snape
S Broad
M Panesar

Actually, I'm not sure about this team myself, but feel the mix of 20/20 pro's and internationally proven players may prove successful. Also, taking pace successfully off the ball is needed, hence why Snape gets in, fractionally ahead of Keedy and Doshi due to batting.

England should look to use big hitters at the start eg. Brown, Benning (surrey fan bias sorry!), Loye.
Its no surprise that Surrey, Leics, Lancs, Australia, other teams who attack from the start win more often that not.

good balance between experience n twenty20 specialists (maddy) 2 spinners as taking pace off the ball is vital

Surely for the 20-20 world cup we have to pick our best 20-20 players:
From the team that has played the 20-20's against the WIndies: Trott is cleary not good enough. Mascheranas isn't up to it with his bowling. Cook should not open or even play for that matter. I suggest:

1. Loye
2. Maddy
3. Ramprakash
4.Pietersen
5. Colly
6. Flintoff
7. Shah
8. Prior
9. Anderson
10. Sidebottom
11. Panesar

Good to see most people have placed Mal Loye opening the England side. He is a consistant performer and most importantly he kick starts the innings which is what 20-20 is all about. The guy has been very unlucky not to get an extended run in Englands one day side and impressed in Australia before being dropped for no apparent reason other than to bring Vaughan back in. I'm sure England would have scored more one day runs over the last few years with Loye rather than Vaughan in the side thats for sure.

Why has no one thought about samit patel? he has been on top form for notts, especially in twenty20 and can bowl a bit too. Here's what the team should be:
D maddy
M Trescothick
K Pietersen
R Bopara
P Collingwood
M Prior
S Patel
J Anderson
A Flintoff
S Broad/Charlie Shreck(also a notts player on top form)
M Panesar

Why has everyone forgotten about one of the best 2020 players of all time. He can bat he can field he can captain and he can bowl brilliantly at the death. This would be my team.

Prior
Maddy
Pietersen
Loye
Jefferson
Collingwood
Flintoff
Hollioake
Bresnan/Broad/Sidebottom/Gough/Cork/Mascheranes
Doshi
Panesar

Like the idea of the team below.
How about a game of the England XI vs the pundit's / commentator's XI. Let's face it the commentators get to see enough cricket to have a valid input.
How Maddy is not in the 20/20 team / squad is beyond me.
