This is a serious debate, and one which I think can be argued from both sides.

So it seems though both players are generally eaqual, Scholes edges Gerrard by the narrowist of margins (i didn't expect such a close finish), and I think this is a fair representation, and would make the statement that Paul Scholes is a slightly better player then Steven Gerrard. If i were to do an "achievement" rating then Scholes would probably get 10, whilst Gerrard would probably get between 7 and 8, as he has never won the league.

That’s rubbish, most unbiased fans (unlike yourself) think Scholes is a great player and will remember him as one, maybe football legends past and present say he is a brilliant player. Like it was said before Zidane the best European player in the last 50 years said Scholes was the best player he has played against, Viera also said Scholes was the most difficult player to play against even ahead of the likes of Gerrard and Keane.

You need to face facts and realise you need to grow up.

Well as someone who lists Scholes as a "genius" i think you need to grow up,or cop on !!
Scholes was never, and will never be in the same league as Zidane,or Roy Keane.
He is talented,yes,but genius,no way !!!

I must just point out that Gerrard never played against Viera in his prime, Scholes was at his best in those days.
Somedays I look at PS and think he's a world beater, same with SG.
There isn't much to choose between them, at there best either can destroy the opposition, at their worst either can let their side down and be sent off.....
Have fun insulting anyone who disagrees with your point but it really doesn't make a good debate.

well said stevieg-force,insults don`t help in anyway. It`s the age old debate between liverpool & utd fans about players. We may not like each other, but must respect each other all the same.Scholes is a talent, keane was a great, but gerrard can go on to become a liverpool legend.

So you're allowed to back up your comments with quotes from a 19 year old who so far has made very little impact on the world stage (Fabulous talent though I must say) but I'm not allowed to back up mine with quotes from World Player of the Years?

One rule for you, one rule for everyone else.

I didn’t say he was better than Gerrard because of that i was just saying what he said.

"Have fun insulting anyone who disagrees with your point but it really doesn't make a good debate."

Read what he says and you will see he's just talking ABU rubbish.

Did i say he was better than Zidane or Keane? No.

The fact that both have said Scholes is a world class player speaks volumes about him.

Scholes is a Genius on the football pitch, he is one of those players who appears to be playing the game in slow motion because of how little he give the ball away and sees passes other players don’t.

You say that Scholes will never be remembered by anyone but Utd fans as a great which obviously rubbish.

I am in no way an ABU,they were deserving champions, and but for some sloppy defending could have done another treble. That aside, some utd fans tend to be blinkered, when comparing players, especially Liverpool ones.Personally,i think Gerrard is the better all rounder,do i think he is the best midfielder in the world,no,but at this stage of his career,he has more potential to be than Scholes had at the same age.
enough of the personal remarks, lets agree to disagree !!!!
