SVEN -RENAISSANCE MAN

Premiership Manchester City

comment on the article

When rumours thickened that SVEN was likely to take over at Man City he received a lot of criticism based on the 2006 World Cup. Yet his record as England manager was only second to Alf Ramsay and might have been better if a bit more enthusiasm had been shown from the Glory Boys - mainly Man U players - to play for their country. SVEN's record as a club manager is amazing, he took 3 different clubs to league and cup doubles, something no-one else has ever done. No doubt he will be a great attraction for great players. With a fantastic stadium, a great manager, money and the most loyal fans in the world - what more could they want. If we want a renaissance at City and SVEN is our next manager, let's all get behind him and stop complaining about the past. I am sure this article will get lots of response from the Salford Redsox because they are obcessed with Manchester and City. A piece of advice for them: swap your red rags for the sky blue whilst there is still time. I won't tell.

I think Sven's going to be excellent for city. He's a proper "league manager", in that he gives nothing away for cheap. In six years as England manager he lost was it 3 competitive matches? He might not be able to motivate a team for the big cup games, but I'm sure he'll build a great team that will see Man City challenging for Europe time and time again.

if Sven couldn't cut it as england manager - and don't anyone tell me he did well - yes he won most of the games but they were woefully boring - and he could chose any player he wanted, what do we expect to see change at City?

How many top quality players do you think will be keen to move to City because of Sven?

If Juande Ramos were appointed there would be a number of Spanish players who would follow him. If Mark Hughes was in the job (and that, too, is an option I wouldn't like to see personally) a number would look to follow him.

But Sven??

I can't see that making it easier to attract quality.

I just hope it doesn't happen. I've been a City fan for too long to go through this.

I sincerely hope that the Premier League do not approve Thaksin - how can they? - and Sven does not come as part of the package.

The thought of him smiling stupidly on the banch as we get beaten (again) is more that I can stand.

I'd rahter watch us lose with SP turning red on a worn out patch of the touchline.

Give SP the millions planned for Sven and he'd do a better job - no doubt.

A reality check for man city fans is this, virtually no top players will go to city, a lot of prem clubs have been taken over, £50m to spend on players has been quoted a lot. That is not a lot compared to what westham have paid. The club needs more than that, but how will you attract the best players.

Someone mentioned if "we dont win every game next season" Why on earth would anyone expect this when the season isnt exactly a million miles away and you have bought no one and lost your best player.

You can have all the money in the world, but london clubs with similar money usually have the edge unless your already established

I honestly now think that City fan's just love to suffer. Last season was atrocious football. The lowest home scoring record of a top-flight club since the Football League began in 1898. Your only happy when your whining about how bad things are.

Sven would be a terrible appointment... boring defensive football, with frequently no apparent tactics whatsoever - from a man who I'm sure could have come from the "Faking It" tv show of football managers.... with his Mclaren "notepad man scribbling away.

Sven prospered for a long time on the England 5, Germany 1.... when such a result was down to the players just getting it right for once.. and some luck for once with the rub of the green.

Has anyone seen the papers today that Sven has already been intouch with Harewood from West Ham! What a joke! Is that the best we can hope for? I would rather keep Corradi!

We've just missed out on the best close season signing in Garry O'Connor, the Scottish Locomotive Moscow striker. Birmingham have just got a real bargain!

If I was a Man City fan I'd be more concerned about the former Thai PM Thaksin Shinawatra's takeover bid.

Setting aside whether this man is guilty or innocent of the charges laid against him, the fact of the matter is that there will be constant speculation about his future, possibly for years to come. Do Man City really need that?

It's the obvious cliche but clubs do need stability and that, as with any organisation, starts at the top and works it's way down.

Do you like it better now when you have your english manager with passion and lose almost every game? At least you qualified too Euro and World cup when
Sven-Göran was manager.
