Another major goes by!!!!!!!!!

comment on the article

Yet again, europes elite golfers turn up, get spanked and go home!

Only Justin Rose seems to show any sort of consistency, but the rest oh dear!

Paul Caesy - Gets into contention, and then collapses!
Sergio Garcia - His career is imploding!
Luke Donald - Another youngster who is nearly 30!!!!!!

It is summed up by the great Ian Poulter, nice trousers, shame about your game!

The only thing that is certain in golf is that nothing is certain. How can anyone berate Tiger for not winning more majors and in the next breath complain about Europeans not winning!

The thing is that Woods has finished 1, 1, 2, 2 in the last 4 majors - if any of us only did that the once we would be proud. The Europeans just are not as consistent as the Americans who grow up with golf through college life and constant tournaments - which help alleviate the pressure.

Our Europeans have done great in the 2 majors so far this year - with Justin Rose being up there both times. These are pros. They are pros because they are very competive - anyone who thinks they are there for the money is stupid. They are there from hard work and discpline.

The only joke... Jean Van De Velde - who didnt seem to care about losing the Open a few years back.

Reddevil19, I can tell from your name and your outlook on other peoples lives that you're a couch potato and have no business passing comment on anyone elses life. Get your own.

Just being a professional in ANY sport is hard enough. Just because you weren't entertained at the weekend by the people you most wanted to be entertained by, doesn't mean they should be in for a roasting by a nobody like you.

If Paul Casey has come out and honestly said that nerves got the better of him then good for him. He knows the problem. He now has to work on a solution.

Casey can take heart as a lot of players may have took 85, yesterday with the way he played the first 9, just 2 years after his 85 during his meltdown and in the end his round was no worse than Justin's, but how many times have we seen these Brit's slide down the leaderboard in recent events. Only Bjorn, Padraig and Monty can I remember taking the fight at the top of the leaderboard.

Why do so many people insist on comparing "Europeans" and "Americans." I mean golf has little or nothing to do with passports. I just don't get it. I think it is great that the Ryder Cup gives so many "Europeans" reason for pride. It is ironic of course that it is one country vs. the nominally 'united' states of Europe.

Just keep in mind, Americans do well on the US PGA tour because except for a handful of elite players, they only play the US tour. Many top Europeans aspire to play in the US thus splitting their efforts between Europe and US tours.

Congrats to Angel!

Oh Please!

So what if Fasth finished 4th, he was six shots back, with a couple of holes to go, it was only because Cabrera, Fuyrk, dropped 3 shots over the last few holes, that made his performance look halfway decent!

Paul Casey is a JOKE, he shoots 40+ on the front nine, and then when everyone forgets about him, his performance dramatically improves! He's like a football team who starts winning after they've been relegated!

Nick Faldo realised that his swing (in his mid-twenties) was not up to the rigours of major championship pressure, he went away and totally rebuilt his swing, and then went onto win 6 majors!

I ask this, who of the current bunch do the same thing?

NONE!!!!!!!!!!

Perhaps the R&A might wish to comment on the fact that at least 10 "spotters" were used on every fairway to mark the location of the balls when they missed the fairways. Is this how the game of golf was meant to be played?

The USGA has taken the game to two extremes - manicured spectator golf - or the brutally difficult course conditions that the US Open Tournament Committes set-up for their premier tournament. While the former addresses the need to see lower scores - the latter may perhaps be the USGA's answer to their losing battle with technological advances in equipment.

The solution lies somewhere in the middle - a combination of all these factors perhaps...? Double seeded liquid fertilized thick rough - but not of a length that will cause injury to players; narrower landing areas; strategically located hazards and quick putting surfaces (not glass!). If skilled players are stil able to power and finesse their way through such courses - so be it!

10-spotters a hole... give us a break!

Nick Dougherty went to David Leadbetter to remodel his swing.

australian aaron baddeley has in sporting terms 'choked'

its interesting to compare the careers of him and another australian golfer - adam scott when they both burst onto the scene at the same time, scott is a top 10 player and immensely popular whereas baddeley is a player who bobbed up every once in a while but has played himself into relative golfing obscurity

So Tiger's child was born early Monday morning, wonder what would have happened if he had made it into a tie with Cabrera. Would he really have pulled out of a US Open playoff?

Noallegiance - thanks for your very nice comment about what you think i do, Although you couldnt be further from the truth. I was very entertained by the golf over the weekend and felt Cabrera deserved his glory, the point i tried to make is that i would just like to see a european win a major and to be fair it has been a long wait. I don't blame Paul Casey because he is a fantastic player but it just surprises me that a man who hit a whole in one to win a ryder cup match can be undone by nerves in a major tournament.
