US Open final round

comment on the article
Aaron Baddeley

The final round of the US Open gets under way at Oakmont at 1450 BST.

Aaron Baddeley must be sweating bullets somewhere in the confines of his hotel room. Just one round of golf stands between the 26-year-old Australian and a first major, only it's not quite as simple as that.

When Baddeley tees off at 2000 BST, he'll have the Tiger on his back, as well as millions of worldwide eyes wondering whether he'll crack under pressure playing with the major-winning machine.

However, the fact that Woods has never won one of his 12 majors when he hasn't led after the third round should give Baddeley a sliver of hope.

But then there's the little group hanging around not too far off the pace to contend with.

English duo Justin Rose and Paul Casey, along with Stephen Ames and Bubba Watson at five over, are three shots behind Baddeley. A couple of moments of inspiration from one of these boys and it's squeaky bum time for the Australian.

It looks set to go right down to the wire, but let's be honest, the Australian faces the most gruelling, challenging and downright thrilling 18 holes ever - and doesn't Tiger know it.

"They're going to be dealing with emotions that they've probably never dealt with before," said Woods when asked about whether Baddeley, Casey and Rose would crack under the pressure in the final round.

So what are your thoughts? Will Baddeley have the iron gut to hold off the challenge of Woods and the chasing pack? Is the trophy set to go down under once more after Geoff Ogilvy's success from last year?

What is wrong with the Brits? Is it that they simply aren't good enough or as the Aussies say ,' have no ticker', i.e have no bottle? Before the 4th round started I knew what wold happen, so disappointing. Tiger to win....

'They are falling away one by one.
Casey is out of it now. Surely Cabrera will fall away, he is bound 2 choke.'

Good call - not!!!

So Geoff Ogilvy does not like the bunkers as he cannot go for the green after getting in them. I thought that was the idea. Bunker= missed fairway= not a good shot. Get it back in play and carry on, just like the rest of us golfers in the real world!

Well done Angel Cabrera - I thought the pressure might have got to him but he held on - despite Woods and Furyk snapping at his heels.

Fantastic U.S Open.
Who would bet against him making it an Open Double next month.

Intersting that the U.S Open winner played at Wentworth a couple of weeks ago.
That will give Ernie and the European Tour something to smile about.
