NO TAKEOVER A GOOD THING

Manchester City

Have been thinking about the collapse of the takeover today and actually think it is a good thing. Imagine if the assets had been frozen after he bought the club. MCFC may have been sold again and quickly.

It has also brought everything to a head. There isn't time to wait for the Americans this time. It will now mean Wardle will have to get off his backside and get a manager. As i said this morning Sven should be in the job by Friday.

Heard Noel Gallagher talking about city - he is expecting nothing, which is probably how we all feel. We need to put pressure on the board to get into action and dust off their wallets.

uptoeleven, you need to get your facts right. Thaksin is loved by the poor parts of the country where he can buy votes.
Do you think its a coincidence that lots of people on here are negative about him? My guess is you werent there at the time of the coupe or any time before that as anyone who lived there would say that only the poor farmers think of him as a hero, the well educated Thai's tend to know him for the two faced crook he is.
Its a bit like someone saying George Bush is a hero in America!

As a City fan of 32 years, this whole saga is utterly depressing. Wardle has been a terrible chairman. After years of that idiot Peter Swales, we finally got a smart businessman in Bernstein, only for him to be ousted by a bumbling blow-hard like Wardle (note from the successful clubs - DON"T hire a "fan" as your chairman. Hire a smart, savvy businessman.) Now we are in a disasterous position weeks away from a new season. Ranieri would have been great. Ramos could be great. But why would Ramos come to such an incompetent club. We have no legitimate offers - the Thai guy is a crook, with a history of tax evasion and dodgy deals. And how we are talking about Chris Coleman. Heaven help us. I am losing my faith in this football club.

Call me skeptical, but why on earth would a coach like Juande Ramos want to chuck in a comfortable, secure job at a comfortable, secure club like Sevilla (two UEFA Cups, fighting for the Spanish title all season, in the Champions League next year)... to go to...Manchester City????

When Ramos took over at Seville they were an average team who'd just sold Julio Baptista, they're outstanding player, and the year before Jose Antonio Reyes had left for Arsenal. In the 2005/2006 season he turned them around winning the UEFA Cup, the first cup they'd won in 58 years. Seville also have a 45,500 seated stadium.

My point being; Seville were a similar (better, but similar) club to Man City, he may feel he wants a new challenge which the Man City job certainly is! Also, in all honesty all the top managers want to try their hand at Premiership at some point...and Man City are a club with huge potential

I see your point, I really do. Man City are a fairly big club, maybe comparable with Seville a few years back. Similar sort of youth policy, as well.

However - surely the lure of managing in the Champions League outweighs a season of certain struggle in the depths of the Premiership...

us city fans would LOVE to see a bit of money flowing our way, but this thaksin guy just doesnt seem to be the right guy. hes on exile from his own counrty and his assets have been frozen, weather hes worth £3b or not, £830m is a hell of a lot of money still.
i think wardle and co will be better off seeing what this alledged "american consortium" bring to the table first

Lets be honest even dirty money has got to be better than nothing as we have now. From where im sitting it hasnt done Chelsea any harm (Allegedly)so Mr Wardle do us all a favour and sell quickly to the Thai or Ray Ranson or the so called USA interested parties. Blue Gloom

As a long-standing `blue`, I am appalled that `Martincity` would have no qualms in accepting dirty money to purchase MCFC. We complain about the lack of morality and sporting spirit in this " beautiful" game, and then we read these feeble comments from an apparent true supporter. I`ll bet he made derogatory and denigratory comments when MUFC were bought by the Glazer family. Irrespective of the "dirty money" aspect, surely we should be asking questions of the board concerning the "Ray Ranson" scenario; why did he withdraw his offer; does he know something we don`t know; is he playing a waiting game. I`m sure that most fans, if not all, would prefer to see his consortium in control, compared to some unknown, and possibly doubtful Thai millionaire.
