Share price rockets as Blues begin takeover

Premiership Birmingham City
comment on the article

BLUES shares rocketed today as they admitted that they were in talks with a mystery billionaire businessman about the sale of the club.

The share price jumped by 25 per cent to 50p - the price they were when the club was floated.

But reports that a £70 million deal has been struck and David Sullivan and the Gold brothers are set to hand over the reins within a matter of weeks are premature.

The Birmingham Mail understands that the potential buyer and his associates are expected in the city this week after Blues agreed to open their books for inspection.

Blues have checked his background and are satisfied that he does have the funds in place to mount a takeover.

f a formal offer is made, then it is likely to be less than the £70 million mentioned, possibly in the region of £50 million.

The mystery man in question is acting alone and from the Far East but he is NOT former Thailand prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who tried to buy Liverpool and is among those interested in Manchester City.

Guess it is only a matter of time until an announcement has been made saying they have agreed to sell their shares, also regarding peoples worries that transfers may be put on hold. Seems things will continue as usual- £3.5m bid for kamara confirming that.

Trust me guys. You would be giving it large if you were subject of being owned by a man who spent £34m on a wedding, £70m on a house and purchased his main rival company allegedly because he didnt like the owner.

I agree its all conjecture. But the indian has and I quote "Refused to deny". Lets face it by August we will be under new owners who ever it may be. So far we have the FAR EAST BUSINESSMAN, THE INDIAN SANDEEP CLAUSE, RAY RANSON and links to Rover parent group in China. Not bad considering its been in the public domain for 3 days. You may well be pleased that its speculation at the moment but when these turn to actual bids then I assume that your SLIGHT CONCERNS will turn to MAJOR WORRIES. Even with your 'Proud history bright future' you lot still feel the need to darken our door. If your club are so massive and we are so far behind you in every way why do you bother us. Surely you should be arguing your points on the Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool sites?????

Twelvty - you're the locals. As you know, we normally ignore you but every now and again you surface in the premiership so we have a little sport. It cuts both ways. It'd be boring otherwise. As for suggesting we have a pop at the big boys, we're a long way away from that. Plus it's more fun poking you lot with our much bigger, much more expensive, proud history, bright future stick...

If someone with real money to spend is in a position and willing to invest in Birmingham then let´s get on with it and challenge the best teams in the Premiership at the moment. We will need to move to a stadium which will house the 50 thousand and more that would be regular match visitors in future too. Sven Ericson might be a potential target for the new buyer too.

twelvty, I like your optimism, but you are letting these mongrels get to you. If you didn't answer the insults would eventually subside. The reality is now... we may be taken over by a rich owner who understands how powerful the City of Birmingham is relative to the world, and if it happens we will have a fun ride at least for a few years, look at Fulham, for example, they've accomplished more than they deserve from the investment, and we are light years ahead of where they were at that time. And if not, we still have a rather progressive board who will support the team when needed, (think January 2003), and we will have a run in the Prem. We are used to underachieving, but I for one think this time around, we will win something substantial, and that is why the Villa, and B4 fans keep trying to needle us, and at the moment, you.

i believe that this takeover would be great for blues, bringing much more money to the club to get our hands on some top quality players and maybe a better stadium
