West Indies second top scorer in the 1st innings was "Extras".

If you're giving that many extras away it's almost like you are having to take 11 wickets.

I'd forgotten England's ODI kits resemble those of clowns.... how fitting.

Talking of ODI's, what should the starting 11 be?

Here goes my offering;

Prior
Loye
Vaughan
Bell
Bopara
Pieterson
Collingwood
Clarke
Anderson
Sidebottom
Panesar

england didnt do that well really they were 250-3 i think and then gt all out for 313 i thought sammy was really poor in the first and wasnt worth the call-up but he was brilliant to take 7 wickets although the pitch may have been on his side wat a debut for the lad though

Ganga must go!

peacedove!

It would be totally wrong and unjust to retain Daren Ganga in any future West Indies Test team! Needless-to-say, the gentleman is an abject failure with the bat. Period!

It's rather ironic that such a batting liability is the captain of team!

If I recall correctly, he has been adjudged LWB everytime this series, symptomatic of a major technical batting flaw.

Suggestion:

Bring back Lara and let Shiv assume the captaincy! Or the Windies will become the laughing stock of the cricket world! Lara can also field, quite unlike the comedy show we saw today at Old Trafford!

Cheers!

The Windies are unlikely to get the target set for them, especially if they maintain their previous run rate of 4 an over.
If they get their mind set to think in terms of scoring at around 2 and a bit per over (200 runs per day) then they cd really put themselves in the record books.
But I guess they will go for their shots and get out.
If they had 4 or 5 "Boycotts" in their side they could really grind down this mediocre England attack-with the exception of Monty of course!!

The West Indies fielding today was very poor until the wickets started falling - very much like Englands performance in Melbourne. There is talent in the team but without confidence it will not blossom.

With England lack of playing time has contributed and Strauss now deserves to be dropped to get his head right playing for Middlesex.

I am sure playing time is an issue for West Indies and the presence of Messrs. Richards, Holding, Croft etc in the commentary boxes cannot lighten the load the players feel. Get behind your team and give them something to be proud about.

They won't win this match but they might do better next time out and are certainly learning - in the spotlight - for the future.

Time for the bowlers to strighten their line and backs. A nice clean bowling attack whatever the score and I think England have the basis a team building for another ashes success. I think this team will last longer than the ashes 2005 team we just have to get behind them and take the mistakes on the chin. I do belive this team has ability and wants to use it.

I agree completely. Englands only problem now is that Panesar and Hoggard are the only quality bowlers, Harmison should have a lengthy spell in county only. I think the next Ashes series will be alot more even, as England will have more quality and Australias superstars will almost all be gone.

The TMS commentators have made much of Paneasar's exuberance. Give him a break - I read that he is a world class bowler, but in Australia, the series was lost before they gave him a game. At least he's not obnoxious like Warne!
