Nadal reaches French Open Final

Second Seed Rafael Nadal has overcome Novak Djokovic to reach the French Open Final, which will be between him and Roger Federer.

Nadal has always been at his best while at Roland Garros and was expected to walk away with the victory and continue his great form on clay, which of course he did.

But it wasn't a complete walk in the park for the Spaniard. He had to wait 12 games before he'd won the opening set but after that he was too strong for Djokovic.

But before Sunday's final, Justine Henin and Ana Ivanovic will contest the womens final, taking place tomorrow.

Play starts at 1400 BST on the Philippe Chatrier Court.

I think Henin and Nadal will win their finals, what do you think?

I think you're right, Jonny....

Nadal to win in five, and Henin to win in straight sets. Who would've thought it would've been a Henin-Ivanovic final when this competition started?

In contrast, who predicted a Nadal-Federer final in the men's?
erm
With the men's competition, I felt the urge to fast-forward to the final, because I already knew who would be in the final. That said, the final should be a cracker....

As far as the Men's final, Federer has every chance against Nadal.

Still he does.

Nadal is a beast on clay, but only Federer knows that he has the talent and the shots to do it, if he can raise his game yet higher compared to the way he had to do so against Robredo and Davydenko.

On paper, it's a big task to ask of Federer, but he is the only one capable of beating Nadal on clay, and if he can play the clay court match of his life and play to the shot-making brilliance that he can play, there are times he's made Nadal look ordinary, like last year's 1st set of the final.

I really want Federer to do it, and funnily enough, maybe sometimes fate does play a part, maybe he is destined to win it this year?

Ragaman_julie’s comment is really good and makes lots of sense. I agree with almost all the points he has said.

As we all expected the top two players play for the title on Sunday, which once again proves that the other players are way behind them.

I feel Roger Federer has a better chance to win the final. Though Federer’s match record is 4-7 against Nadal, he has beaten Nadal twice in their last three meetings, which clearly suggests that Federer must have figured out a way to deal with Nadal.

While Nadal is ruthless in his run to the final, Federer’s game is a bit fluctuating. In the quarterfinal match against Tommy Roberdo, Federer pocketed the last two sets under 45 minutes and was in full flow, whereas against Davedenko he appeared a bit unconvincing through out the match.

Federer should execute his master class tennis in the final. If Federer peaks on Sunday, and if Nadal comes up with ruthless tennis, it could be all the more interesting. If Federer plays the final the same way he played against Davedenko in the semifinal, he will be finished. Federer must surely raise his game in the final.

A thriller in the offing for all of us fans. The match would go neck to neck.

I feel Roger Federer, who always has the habit of playing bigger points and bigger matches better, will go on to win his first French title and 11th grand slam on Sunday.

On clay Rafa has been a refreshing and exciting marvel. However, as we all know, once Federer reads his opponents game as he has said about Rafa's, beware. I have a feeling it will be Fed in 3 sets, and do not be surprised if another bagel pops up. I do believe Fed has saved his best for last. I hope Rafa plays a tactically sound game and not just the power game he so often employs. If Federer serves and volleys he is a technically astute player and has the athleticism to trouble Rafa's game. Federer is more dangerous this time round because he has the believe. All the same Vamos Rafa.

I think Henin is going to win pretty easily as shes playing really well, so I dont think its going to be much of a final.

As for Fed and Nadal, we all knew it was coming. I really want Fed to win and I think he deserves it. It would be great because he would hold all the grand slams at the same time and compelete the set. I just think hes a much more interesting player to watch but I think its going to be tough.

Come on Fed!

I agree Sathishlara.Fed has the unique talent to do it.He has to play his best, which he will no doubt.Sampras,Mc Enroe,Connors and Edberg have never won the French Open, however fantastic they were.Federer is better than all of them,he's a really complete player. It could be neck and neck,as Nadal is so good on clay, but for the beauty of tennis, let us hope grace, talent and variety of shots prevail!
Come on Fed! you can do it.
