It has just come up on BBC that Mark Viduka is having a medical at Newcastle.

This is a good signing for us.

I have been a fan of Mark Viduka since his early days with the Melbourne Knights and I remember how much better than any other Australian player in the domestic competition he was.
In his last year for Melbourne Knights he won everything it was possible for a domestic aussie player to win. He stood out as our best player in the country.
I’ve followed his career through Croatia Zagreb, Celtic, Leeds and now Middlesbrough. He always kept a high goals-to-games-played ratio.

Now Mark has come to my club – Newcastle United.
The club with the best supporters in the world. I'm so pleased.

That way Mark can stay living up in the north, which will mean less disruption for his family.

At Newcastle we desperately need a player like Mark, a skilled striker, strong, with a genuine goal scoring record, able to hold the ball up well and bring other players into the game. With Michael Owen fit and/or Obafemi Martins, Viduka is the right style of player to create a genuine winning combinations. I think he will love working for Big Sam and the renewed potential he brings to the club. Sam's strong man-management skills will re-kindle Viduka's confidence. And Sam's approaches for fitness will keep Viduka more healthy.

I'm pleased Mark has come to the Toon and I'm looking forward to next season.

Guess Middlesboro won't be singing the "mark viduka" song any more.

Do you care if the gorgies borrow it when he scores?whistle
