While i can't say i was thrilled with the Allardyce appointment, i'm pleasantly surprised by his signing targets.
Instead of going for players who can't get a game at other clubs, we seem to be targeting guys who are key players elsewhere.

Rozenhal, Barton and Viduka are the first names on the team-sheet for PSG, Man City and Middlesbrough.

This is in stark contrast to recent years where we've made a habit of signing players other clubs no longer wanted (Babayaro, Kluivert, Butt, Parker, Martins, Duff, Emre, etc).

Back in the Keegan days, arguably the best period in our recent history, we would regularly sign other clubss best players (Ferdinand, Shearer, Fox, Ginola, etc) so i think we should view this as a step in the right direction.

Far better to sign guys whose careers are thriving rather than players who've been in a slump.

Mate how is it a good idea to sell parker and then buy barton, why not just keep parker, hes the better player and you dontget the shananagans that you get with barton off the field.

If man city dont want barton that says it all

Hi Guys, I'm a west ham fan n i have to say i'm absolutely chuffed with getting Parker and not Barton.
They are both quality players and have years ahead of them but i truly believe we have got the best deal here. Barton looks like another Bowyer to me, even now he's moaning about an extra 300K for leaving man city which i'm sure he'll earn within a month of playing for you guys.
Viduka is a class signing tho!

Good luck for next year lads, would love to see you win summin!
oh n by the way if anyones interested Newcastle are 200-1 with hill's to win the league next year winkeye

It looks as if alardyce is taking the club back to where it should be, which is chalenging for europe. i still however think there is work to be done. if sam gets Rozenhal then that is arguably as good a signin as viduka. i agree to an extent with the idea of signing players who are first team regulars however i see nothing wrong with buying a fringe player for europes top clubs, so long as there not old. maybe a signing like helguera or pavon from real madrid, or oleguer from barca, these a fringe players but with the quolity required to chalenge for that european place. also what hasnt really been touched apon is that newcastle need full backs as well as center backs and im yet to here about any potensial full back signings.
one word on viduka, a great player but will he fit in the team? unless owen leaves shud martins be dropped? he is the only real pace in the team exept dyer, so maybe that isnt such a good idea, and 16 goals last season he can score, so has sams resigned to loose owen?

Barton, thug who is an average player only got into England squad due to injuries and dropping so called over the hill players after world cup.

Viduka, fat mercenary who has played well for a short while at Celtic Leeds and Boro then wanted away and played crap to get a transfer every time.

Not exactly what you'd expect the top teams in Premiership to be buying is it?

Just the sort of mediocrity that got Bolton their name for crap football over the last seven years.

Nobody is saying Barton is an England first team player, or even a squad player. But he's better than anything Newcastle have and much better than Parker giong forward.

Viduka...is that the same Viduka who still put in a load of goals last season? Not bad for someone who doesn't care and trying to get away huh?

Newcastle can't attract the players that the top 4 can so try and be realistic. And ask the fans to choose between Bolton's and Newcastle's last two years, and who do you think they'd opt for?

I believe that, although one of the greatest players to ever grace English football has left, Arsenal will be strong enough to recover and push Chelsea, Man Utd and Liverpool for the title. The pace and skill of their side is still enough to defeat anyone on their day. They will need another striker however because you can't play a whole Prem season with only 2. My predictions for the Prem next season: 1.Chelsea 79pts 2.Man Utd 76pts 3. Arsenal 74pts 4. Liverpool 73pts. Being a Chelsea fan myself you could call me biased but i do believe it will be one of the closest title races ever.
