Beckham recallInternational football England by Zonda-safc (U8274863) 27 May 2007 Politically correct or not, the Beckham recall to the England squad is a good short term move. The experience he has, the lack of quality or consistency from his "ready made" replacement Lennon have contributed to this necessity. I find myself pleased that Mclaren has the balls to do a U turn, while he fights for life in the job. Although he made the noises to indicate the door was not closed to Beckham, I don't think anyone, himself included, actually believed it. Latest 10 commentsRead members' comments or add your own

theenforcer22 (U5587034) posted May 30, 2007 Just to clarify, Pennant did play most games for Liverpool last season. No point in arguing that fact if you haven't seen the figures Theenforcer22.

theenforcer22 (U5587034) posted May 31, 2007 Of course, everyone is entitled to an opinion and everyone has their favourites. But it would appear that Pennant is way down the pecking order. It was in one of the papers yesterday that McLaren was asked who will take over on the right in the long-term and he mentioned 6 potential candidates (Lennon, Wright-Philips, Bentley, Agbonlahor, Walcott, Young) and didn't mention Pennant.

AMICORED (U6625580) posted Jun 1, 2007 With all due respect Theenforcer, Mclarens assertions dont really matter to me afterall how many matches has he won? And besides since he took over as manager England,s style of play is just too predictable.Let him try Pennant on the right & see the variation in the team. Pennant is one of the best right wingers in the country & whether you like it or not he will play for England sooner than later!!

denverlimey (U5078308) posted Jun 10, 2007 Why is Lennon being written off already? He's hardly been given a decent chance by McTwat (against Israel he was on the left, not his natural position), and other players who have gone well past their sell by date (Frank Lampard) are there simply on past performances that go back well over a year ago.
