Australia 29 - 23 Wales

A try with the last move of the match from replacement Stephen Hoiles denied Wales a first win over the Wallabies in Australia since 1969.

The tourists stormed into an early 17-0 lead with tries from Jamie Robinson and Gareth Thomas, on his record 93rd cap.

Line-out problems helped Australia hit back, tries from Wycliff Palu, Nathan Sharpe and Matt Giteau making it 22-20.

James Hook's late drop goal looked to have won it for Wales, but a, final all out attack saw Hoiles in at the corner.

What did you think of the match? Who stood out for you?

How do you see the next Test going?

Wales must be getting tired of being seen as plucky losers, rather than gritty winners.
Still, as long as there are still a few former coaching friends from Oz and NZ to give moral support, it softens the blow I guess.
Nothing worse than feeling like an island nation is there guys? No man is an island and all that! :)

Coopers fault in the end. Should have kept the ball instead of needlessly kicking the ball away. 1 min on the clock and he gives it away.

three things cost us that gane
1)rees throwing in which was dire
2)our fielding of kick offs which cost us 13 points
3) copper who should have
a) kept the ball in hand
b) if he had to kick ensure he kicked the ball dead
c) when under no pressure he kicked the ball approx 2 metres
he has been useless all season and shouldnt have been on that tour, sadly his play cost us that game
by the way the aussies were dire, tuqrui, latham and larkham will improve that team but the boks and the abs will smash them in the tri nations

as for next week meifin davies will improve the line out and henson for parker gives us more options at 12, better passing and kicking game (parker looks likely to be 13)
hook must play every game at 10 from now on and alfie must be captain
(charvis needs to be in the 22 as well)
the aussies will proably win next week but again i dont see it being easy especially if that line out is sorted,

How dumb was that Wales? It's already been said - 90 seconds on the clock and you kick the ball away! Just plain stupid. The win was there for you. But don't blame Cooper entirely. Where was the collective game plan for that last 90 seconds? Clearly there wasn't one. You can guarantee that if the AB's or the Boks or the Wallabies had that lineout with a minute and a half to go the whole team would have known what was on and that would not have included kicking the ball to the opposition. A team that dumb won't get within 20 points of Aussie this weekend. And please Welsh fans stop blaming the ref.

I dont think any welsh fans have blamed the ref so not sure where that came from.
Cooper cannot take all the blame but for a pro rugby player his kicking skills were little short of dire, why owen didnt just carry the ball up and then the welsh forwards keep the ball in hand for the last minute i do not know.
But dont worry about us keeping close to this aussie side, they are not good enough to blow anyone away and if our line out improves we could even sneak it (i doubt it though)

Englishman with a Welsh girlfriend.

Wales were robbed IMO. Cooper really did lose it for them with the gifted possession at the end but other than that, a strong performance I thought. Aussie handling was dire and they may prove more difficult next week if they click but some really encouraging signs for Wales.

It's a Welsh board so I won't talk about the England game. I prefer not to anyway!

Wales were totally inept. No pattern, no willingness to run with the ball. Gareth Jenkins has brought the 'KICK AND CLAP'game back, Regardless of what team was fielded there should be style of play. WHAT IS GARETH JENKINS WELSH WAY??????????

we were awful our set peice is a shambles, that is something jenkins has simply been unable to sort out he needs to get an experienced forward coach on board now!
Jenkins win loss ratio is awful 3 out of 13 games and two of them are canada and the pi!
