excellentahmed (U8491672) posted May 28, 2007 I belive its agood move for chealse, considering the pressure the team goes through whenever essean is withrown from the midfield, but i doubt if that's a good one for the player since chealse will deffinatelly go in for at least a central deffender which will see essean moved back to his namarl posstion at the central midfield with the likes of ballack and makelele, but i want to believe the player believes in himself and can make the first team if given the opportunity. wishing him all the best.

readingfcrthebest (U8493322) posted May 28, 2007 sidwell is an excellent player and could do well at any premiership club, but chelsea could be a bad move for him as they have quality in depth in every position. given a chance he could displace mikel, and with lampard seemingly on the way out he has a good chance to contend for a place, but we have all seen too many times players of his quality consigned to the reserves for a season or two before being sold to a small team in a last ditch effort to rebuild their reputation. if he had stayed at reading he may have been contending for an england spot next season. at chelsea it will be all he can do to hold down a first team slot. that said, good luck to him. he has been excellent for the royals and deserves a chance at a huge team playing in the biggest competitions

liverpooljam (U7031807) posted May 30, 2007 I doubt he will make little more than ten starts for Chelsea next season, if that. He doesnt fit chesea's style of play. and even if he did he will never have that "superstar" status to even be considered as consistent subsitute

theblues88 (U8024198) posted Jun 20, 2007 i think one of the main reasons he was signed is so he can fill in for all the african players while they are away. chelsea will suffer with the likes of Mikel, Drogba, Kalou eing out of the picture. i feel sidwell is a stand in.

celeryphil (U8756556) posted Jun 21, 2007 I think it's a good move to have Steve Sidwell as there will be a number of players on African Nations Cup duty (Drogba,Essien,Kalou,Obi Mikel) so Chelsea need players to cover for that period. Also, in order to challenge on 4 fronts effectively, Chelsea will need a slightly bigger squad than they had last season-you could see that the players were tiring from playing so many games so I think a bit of sesnsible rotation (NOT a la Benitez!) of players will be to Chelsea's benefit

sheva7chelsea (U8925029) posted Jul 9, 2007 Sidwell is a decent player to have in the chelsea addition. Sidwell is a Central Midfielder, with creativity and great composure the best thing about Sidwell is that he is 26 years of age and will be a great replacement for Lamps in the FUTURE.
