McCall gets Bradford job

League One Bradford City
comment on the article
McCall played for Bradford from 1982-88 and 1998-2002

Stuart McCall has been appointed as the new manager of Bradford City.

Former Sheffield United assistant boss McCall, 42, will officially take over at Valley Parade - where he played for the club for 10 years - on 1 June.

Chairman Julian Rhodes told the club's official website: "In light of intense media speculation, I'm delighted to announce Stuart is our new manager.

"We weren't going to announce it until June but some people have been getting nervous so it's out in the open now."

Is McCall the right man for the job?

This is great news for Bradford City and I'm chuffed to see him back at Valley parade and get a buzz going about the place after such a disappointing season. Is the bar there still named after him? What a legend. It'd be like Leicester City getting Stevie Walsh back as manager.
Of course the clubs dilemma will be trying to hold onto him if he does make a success of it there: Leicester City look set to poach MK Dons manager imminently.
Best of luck Stuart. I salute your decision to take this job.

Put it this way. Blades fans must be wishing they had him instead of you. Best of luck to Bradford and Stuart McCall next season. I think he will turn out to be a great choice.

I think it's great news for city!

3 reasons

1. city need money and stuart guarantees an increase in bums on seats. more money = better players = promotion = more money = better players etc
2. we've not done so bad in the past from developing players into coaches and managers. there's been cherry, dolan, kamara and jewell and all have achieved in some way (inc. dolan's nearly season with stuart as capt!)
3. we need some optimism about the place and this does the trick! he's a good motivator and a good coach who has been away and is now back with new ideas and a different approach- he just needs a coach- sinnott who has done wonders at farsley, hendrie, jacobs, abbott?!

I wish all the best to Stuart McCall, i think we have lost potentially a great manager, he was my choice to take over from Warnock. I think he will do a great job for Bradford.

City fan here - this is what we all wanted - although that said I would have preferred to stay in League 1!!

Stuart will be a decent manager though I do believe he needs another guy there to take some flak - possibly Jackson - ideally Jewell - I wouldn't lose sleep if any of those two appeared with him!

As has been said already, SU's loss is our gain. Macca in for us and Robson in for them, anyone want to lay a bet on who will last longest? Experience is meaningless if you never learn from it, and seeing as Robson has taken three clubs down it looks like experience is wasted on him. I feel sorry for the Blades as I didn't want to see them relegated, and even sorrier now you have a poor gaffer to try take you back up. Good luck anyway, but please don't ask us to swap back now your chairman has made a pigs ear of the appointment he made. He was a magnificent player, but surely by now people realise that Brian Robson cannot manage a football team.
And as for Seasider, maybe this should be on the league two board, but seeing as the discussion was started by a host, take it up with them, or stop being a pedant.
