People talk about 30-goals-a-season strikers. Craig Gordon has been described as a keeper who STOPS 30 goals a season above and beyond the norm.

Most of the saves in this youtube clip were during 05/06 when Hearts split the Old Firm. Without Gordon, it wouldn't have happened...

Ok, the general verdict is Gordon is the better keeper, but why would Fergie buy a keeper when we already have 3... that's my point, only that point. Why farm out Foster for 2 years just to bring in another keeper to take over his rightful place as #1? That's my point!

I'm not saying Gordon couldn't handle the Prem, all I'm saying is all a team really needs as 3 keepers, atm we have that 3, of course your 1st has to be world class (in Utd's case anywho), your 2nd a shade leeser a keeper, then your 3rd, is capable, but knows what he's being signed up for, to play when REALLY neccessary. If Gordon was signed two years ago, that would be swell but for Foster to have played first-team football, played like a viking just to go back on the bench is crazy talk!

That is all

Craig Gordon - surely just paper talk .
Van Der Sar and Foster means we dont need to spend this amount of money on a keeper . After losing out on Bale to Spurs I now think United will get Berbatov - Hargreaves and one or two others but PLEASE not a keeper

Just because Utd already have three good keepers doesn't mean they shouldn't be interested if a better one becomes available - that's how teams progress.

VDS is still a top keeper, but I think there's way too much hype about Foster. If he's so good why isn't he established in the England setup.

Having watched a fair bit of English and Scottish footy, I can't say I've seen anyone better. I'd put him on a par with Cech.

One of the top sides will snap him up and get themselves a bargain.

Ok, couple of things to say about this post:-

1) If Man Utd already have 3 good keepers, why blow £10mil on another? There are more pressing positions that need seeing to.

2) Didn't Foster go on loan to progress? So after two years on loan, he deserves to come back and go for the #1 shirt.

3) van der Sar has done an excellent job, but the last couple of games in the season and odd patches during, he's been less than convincing at times, his poor positioning cost Utd in the FA Cup final... end of.

4) if van der Sar leaves, Kuszczak goes on loan to Sunderland, then sure, it's only Foster, but we need someone of a lesser quality to step in as backup as it'll be the Heinze situation but with goalkeepers, Foster too good to be a backup.

how many of u scots can recall gordons heroics against celtic when he handled the ball into his own net! but i do agree he is a better keeper than foster but he can still have his moments!

we need to keep gordon at hearts because lets face it, our reserve keepers are no where near the same league as him. i think clubs should just back off and let him stay at hearts, he says he's happy with us...

you lot are full of it...

granted the SPL isnt up to standard, but gordon is a fantastic keeper and any team in europe would be blessed to have him between the sticks...

after all rangers and celtic rejects will be playin in the premiership next season (bob malcolm and stephen pearson) how gd does yer league look now!?
