Do you think he would run in the Grand National. His owner wants to run him. Do you think the National would suit him

i dont think he will win three gold cups because i think he has got to beat denman first.

Denman wont be a danger to Kauto Star in my opinion, if I were to bet on next years Gold Cup now I'd be backing Star De Mohaison, I think he'll be the biggest threat to Kautos crown next year.

Kauto is obviously a brilliant horse, but it would be nice to se him do what Arkle and Dessie did - win the top handicaps giving lumps of weight away, i think he is well capable of doing it, as was Best Mate, who was sadly denied the chance by his over protective trainer.
When you see horses like Dessie winning the Racing Post Chase conceding nearly two stone to the rest, it really stirs the blood and creates true legends.

Yes indeed, Mightymoyes.

Golden Miller won 5 Gold Cups in the 1930's.

I would be astonished if Kauto Star ran in the Grand National. David Elsworth entered Desert Orchid in the GN and that provoked an astonishing reaction from the public.

You couldn't risk running Kauto Star in the grand national. Surely they wouldn't run him.

Kauto Star wouldnt go in the national, there were a few question marks over him staying the gold cup trip of just over 3 miles, and also his jumping can let him down occasionally as we have seen in this almost impeccable season. Hes a top class 3 mile chaser, and the national would be the last race on Paul Nichols's mind. The gold cup and grand national are also far to close together, with the two hardest races in teh world potentially harming any horse of any ability. Hes got no reason to go for the national, hes a top class 3 mile chaser, which is the ultimate aim for any horse trainer. The national can be generally about luck more than ability, but in 3 mile chase company e.g. king george and the national he can let his ability do all the talking. Great season for Kauto Sat who deserves his well earnt rest.
