Federer- the curse of the bad farmer!

A Bad farmer always blames his implements for his bad farming! Federer never needed a coach anyway! He is that talented! He played without a coach once and won 3 grand slams. Roche is not the reason for Federers misery on clay. Getting carried away by the Hype and Hanging out for picture opportunities with Tiger Woods is responsible for that: "Federer the Great- Henry the Great; Fed- the invincible"...yeah right... try Volandri and Nadal on clay son, and tell us what u see. Tennis is a game where your opponents sooner or later would wise up to your game and crack u up the back side if u do not sit up. Ask the Williams sisters and they will testify to that! When I saw the Williams sisters in 2002, I said definitely no other woman will smell a grand slam title for the next 10years? Did that happen? No! I personally believe that Fed has had his day on CLAY. I cant see him playing another grand slam final at the FO. That said... Volandri is a rising star like Murray. He beat Murray, Fed, and another top 10 player in the quarters so he must know his way around the London Underground!

“Nobody remembers runners-up. Runner-up is another name for the best looser! Fed is a champion. He does not care about Runners-up!”

But that was the original issue! You were making the claim that Federer will never reach the final of the French Open, I was saying that claim is a knee-jerk and that Federer can still reach the final of the French Open or even win it, though I appreciate the task is indeed very difficult with the current dominance that Nadal is showing on clay. We should not be swept away to make big claims based on a players form of the moment.

Federer has had 3 years of complete domination of the sport. Mentally it can be very draining and there was inevitably going to be a let down of some sort. Federer realises the key events are the slams and particularly the French, he needs to win there to be considered a true all time great and he is therefore saving himself for that tournament. I compare Federer now to Stephen Hendry when he constantly winning the world snooker title. Hendry always saved himself for that event and didn't give 100% to the other events. This is how Federer is tackling things at present. THere is no chance he will lose to a Canas or a Volandri at RG, no chance.

They're all just human. No one is invincible.
No one knows who's going to win the French.
If it was a question of an educated guess though, there's a Spanish player who seems a good bet.

When Agassi retired I thought that Federer might snap up Darren Cahill. Is he currently coaching anyone? Is this the time to send for him?

I totally agree frame and fortune.Fed was bound to have a let down but I'm confident he will be back on form for the French. The man has won 10 Grand Slams and could be labelled as "the greatest of all time".He has beaten many good clay-court players, and is training hard with a left-hander...Nadal will burn out some time or other.

When Fed's career is over nobody will remember these recent losses - they will only look at his Grand Slam record. He is still odds on to beat Sampras record of 14 GS titles, and if he does so nobody will ever remember these losses.

its about time he gets a lefty for a coach with a heavy western grip to sort out the 'nadal-factor', which is exaggerated on clay as it is

I believe that Federer is clearly blameing his former coach, he just can't face up to his recent bad form. I don't think he will win the F.O, but i think he is the best in the world AT THE MOMENT. I also think that this recent loss of form will affect his ability at Wimbledon.

Federer made it clear that he was looking for a coach who would be with him to hit the ball. I guess Roche was not there as much as he wanted. This is not to blame Roche and his situation is perfectly understandable. Federer, Roche and the likes are truly business minded. It is not a father-son relation for us to be concerned about. They could be friends and they would remain so, but the business relation has just ceased to exist. It is perfectly normal and I think it's a good thing for Federer.

Federer had mentioned a number of times that he doesn't want too many advices from a coach. He knew his game well and he probably wanted a person to throw his opinions on and Roche was the perfect candidate.

Federer did have a bad form and it had nothing to do with the coach. He never mentioned anything other than some sort of communication gap with Roche. So it's not fair of us to draw unnecessary conclusions.

Now that he has ended Nadal's streak on clay, he is definitely one of the main contenders for the French open. Federer is not invincible, but it doesn't mean that people can just write him off just for a few failures. I am so surprised at the foolish comments people write in here. Read some news, get some frech open history before talking about Federer's odds for the Open. Unless they have a bad day at the French, it is going to be a Fed-Nadal finals.
"yeah right... try Volandri and Nadal on clay son, and tell us what u see." Come on, Son.
