What do you make of this squad and the appointment of Strauss as skipper?

We're not going to learn much about Prior anyway - he'll make some runs against this (with respect) poor Windies side, and people will hail him as a saviour.
I recall a certain C.Read playing fantastically against a Pakistan side last summer. Lot of good it did his career.

No need sussex.

I am confident that Prior will now go on to average 11 this summer and not take a single catch.

You say that like i want him to fail?

on the contrary i'd like him to show england that they have ignored sussex players for a tad too long!!

his batting form is a secondary issue...

englands bowlers are our weakness in tests at the moment and therefore we should pick a side which will increase our chances of bowling a side out not adding extra runs to the lower order....

i dont have a personal mission against the bloke

Sorry Sussex.

I meant that because I was backing Prior he would fail.

Now I've said he keeps well to spin all I can see is him dropping chance after chance off Monty.

And exactly who is it that Prior keeps to for Sussex????

Oh that would be the mighty Mushtaq Ahmed!!

Think he's qualified to keep to a quality spinner don't you? Monty will get there but he's not the finished article yet.

Couldn't disagree with the comments about Prior, despite being a die-hard Sussex supporter but at least give him a chance to prove his ability. Think it's really hard on Nixon who was one of the best players during the winter

Disappointed to read the majority of the posts on this captaincy issue are about Matt Prior at the wicket keeper position!!

How strange it seems that Mr Flintoff has suddenly had a re-occurrence of his ankle injury becuase he has not been considered!

Personally I think Strauss is the right choice as captain.

Paul Nixon can consider himself very unlucky not to have been given the opportunity to keep in the test match. Pleased for Prior, simply becuase I'm a Sussex man but I do fear that Moores might have got it wrong there.
