Revie v Morris

Championship Leeds United
comment on the article

These two Business men are going head to head to try and take control of Leeds United Football Club.

Why not simply join forces and take total control over Leeds United, the funds, plans and future, would make the Club finically stable overall.

I cannot see why the two potential buyers having to slog this one out, Bates has his own plans and he know the potential of the Club and prime land that requires developing, these two buyers need to just merge together to be UNITED, one buyer may not prove enough for Bates, but two buyers join together would see Bates off.

I do like the vision of Morris’s ideas building a new ground and entertainment complex that would bring the City forward.

But the name Revie speaks volumes too, it’s a name that sounds totally genuine and can be trusted.

How would fellow Leeds Fans like to see this potential take over turn out?

Firstly I'd like to say thank you to Ken Bates for saving Leeds United when it was on its backside. However in life you have to be able to see when its time to move on. I'm not and never have been a fan of his style and was never a supporter of his decision to bring in a manager with no previous record at a time when the club needed a steady hand on the rudder.
In terms of Revie v Morris there are pros and cons to both. Morris seems to be giving us a business plan that will generate long term income and is wanting us (the fans) to believe that this will be re-invested in the club. My problem with him is that he has been involved before and where was he prior to Bates?
Revie has not made clear his business vision which he must have but say's the right things in terms of getting the club back on its feet and heading in the right direction. I have liked his comments about getting the right management team in place. What Morris has failed to do and Revie has done is realise that success starts on the pitch and that the off pitch business activity will come from the on pitch success. Also Revie's name means that the fans may come back to the ground and start to push up attendances.

Just read on the Times website that Revie is pulling out of a bid prior to the creditors cut off of June 1st. Apparently it is not about the money but the amount of time he could support such a bid and perhaps then Chair the club. Looks like Morris v Bates and if Morris gets it he won't sell where as Bates may sell if the right offer comes along. Ultimately Bates is going to get the club for £500k, Revie could then buy it from him for £10-20m and Bates is up on the deal. Similar to Chelsea where he made big. the other thing could be a Bates/Revie partnership in the same way as Bates/Harding worked at Chelsea. Bates has said he is looking for investment and if its not about the money but about time then why not. Revie may even wait to see who buys and offer investment, however my feeling is that Morris would like total control of where money is spent whereas Revie seems to suggest he would want it spent solely on the club i.e. buy the ground and training facilities back and invest in players.
Interesting times ahead lets hope whatever way it goes that come next season we are in a financial situation where we can move forward.

we need revie to take over. we need a fan, someone who is born with LUFC blood. someone who can aspire for success and achievement. someone who can reinvent the traditions of Don Revie's era. we need this!!!

Surely the most important thing is not who buys the club, but what they are going to do? We need someone with the club's best interests at heart, not someone hoping to make a quick buck.
The ideal situation would be a genuine Leeds fan, who knows the history of the club and can see that one day we will be back up in the Premiership where we belong...
Good luck to whoever buys it, we've got a couple of tough seasons ahead...

I quite liked your ideas until you came to the comment on Morris's plans for a new stadium. In my opinion (apart from the fact that I love Elland Road) we do not need a new ground. What we need is a new TEAM. This should be the priority for any prospective owner of LUFC. Make no mistake, this is not going to be an easy task to get out of this division; not in the direction that we want to go anyway! Therefore, I would suggest that we concentrate on the hard work ahead and construct a team to do the job (a mixture of youth and experience) and get us back to the Championship as quickly as possible and to then make another (but hopefully more credible) assault on promotion to the Premier.

COME ON YOU WHITES!!

Let's not forget how ol' man Revie let England down...if the boy's got his dad's genes, will he, when he sees a bigger $-sign, head for the hills?
