Well, the Windies get a breather here. Hopefully it's not too serious.

England have loads of good players. I'll bet the GNP of the USA that there isn't a 21yr old Aussie batsman as promising or as prolific as Cook. Bell has better technique (if currently a less punishing mindset) than nearly all other batsmen in the world. Shah would be one of the world's top players if he'd worked a bit more at his game. These are excellent players, they just need support.

If Pietersen is out the Shah can come in...make 80 odd on a difficult pitch without being dismissed...then we can drop him for another 3 18 months!!

Yeh sussexpob, Shah would have to make about 600 to keep his place for the 2nd test. Vaughan, on the other hand, knows he can blissfully make ducks and be a cast-iron selection.

Good point, guys....

Now that Shah's biggest 'fan', Duncan Fletcher, is no longer in the way, maybe Owais can get an extended run.

If Kp isn't there it is unfortunate for him but hopefully if he isn't fit then Shah will come in his place though it will be likely for one test.

I think Joyce will be picked on the team ahead of Shah if Pietersen is injured.

You can blame Fletcher all you want, but England without their top guns like Jones, Vaughan (also for his captaincy), KP, and Tresco are a decidedly average to low cricket team hence the poor results without them. Happy that KP is injured? Why don't you shoot yourself in both feet and wish for Freddy's demise too? Players of that (KP) temperament are always walking the fine line between confidence and arrogance - it's what makes them great players. Was Fletcher the only selector? And so is all the blame on him for being blind to all the talent waiting in the wings? Don't underestimate the WIndies, they may not win this series but will expose England as being a slightly overinflated number two test ranking. (established by the much maligned Fletcher.)

"I have a feeling Pietersen upsets the England Dressing room."

why do people always say this, what evidence is there he does? Everyhting I always read and hear is hes one of the hardest working players and if some people dont like the fact that he's very confident then maybe they are the ones with the problem. I find it staggering how people love to hate a winner in this country.
