Glenn Roeder...did the honourable thingPremiership Newcastle United by shearwonderland (U2920524) 06 May 2007 It is usual on a day like this for most toon fans to say 'good riddance' and rant about how they never wanted the guy in the first place and while this may be true without the passionate hate which normally comes with it, i just wanted to express my joy at a mnager being able to stand up and say 'this is not working and i want this club to do well and this is not going to happen under me, therefore i am going to do the honourable thing and not wait for a big large paycheck like souness' and co and stand down because i love the club'. Glenn did this unlike other managers who did not even go when the '... out' chants started ringing round. He was honourable and i thank him for the way he has done this. Thankyou Glenn and good luck Latest 10 commentsRead members' comments or add your own

ElBosque (U1670480) posted May 7, 2007 Good Man Roeder, left when he did. Like most I'd like him back at the academy. Just don't think he has what it takes to be a big manager. Think he's got an eye for talent though, so academy's the best place for him. Playing both Butt and Parker in centre mid when you can't score a goal strikes me a bit of a lack in common sense.

MagpieFleck (U7009877) posted May 7, 2007 Roeder... Nice guy, Bad Manager. The injuries were bad but we played better with the injuries. C'mon lets admit i wasn't excited at the prospect of Stephen Carr returning to the back 4 i was just as happy with Huntington. We need the belief and a decent back 4, and i think we should start a younger team like Bobby's beliefs when he signed players such as Jenas, Ambrose, Milner, and Dyer.

Cold War Kid (U3275391) posted May 7, 2007 Newcastle just need to chill out and try to enjoy their football. Everything that surrounds that club is just so intense and depressing.

Mal Bradshaw (U5838157) posted May 7, 2007 Get ready to see Nolan, Davies etc in stripes once big Sam moves in. This has been in the cards for months. You seem like a nice guy Roeder but not premiership management material.

the-brittas-empire (U5887423) posted May 7, 2007 big sam in charge of newcastle would be a disaster for the geordies. big sam is a long ball coach, his brand of football should be kept in the lower leagues not at a top club like newcastle. how anyone can appoint him ahead of other names mentioned like juande ramos, erikson and even shearer is beyond me... yes he has got bolton to a high position in the EPL but Bolton are a thugish team playing long ball football.

WANCHWARRIOR (U8292333) posted May 7, 2007 Roeder did well last season considering the mountain he had to climb when Souness went. However, he shouldn't have been given the job full time for this season. Again, Mr Shepherd was looking for the cheaper option!!!! The players need to get their fingers out too as half of don't seem to have the heart or love of the club to play for us. Lets hope next season is a lot better. Afraid Allardyce isn't the bearer of trophies though.

1966UNITED (U4376365) posted May 8, 2007 I agree that Fat Freddy should go. He showns no emotion at all yet says he's black and white through and through. If you are black and white through and through Freddy then do the decent thing and step down for the good of the club.
