Southampton v Southend

Championship Southampton
comment on the article

Polish stikers Grzegorz Rasiak and Marek Saganowski could give Southampton a major attacking boost if they are fit in time for the crucial clash.

Boss George Burley will be without defender Darren Powell (knee) and midfielder Jermaine Wright (hernia).

Southend have doubts over Freddy Eastwood (back) and Kevin Maher (foot) however the duo will be given as long as possible to prove their fitness.

Mark Gower is definately out after a scan revealed strains to his back.

Will Saints get the result they need to book a play-off place or will Southend spoil their plans?

I'm going for 6-0 Saints. Grotty little teams like Southend have no chance against massive clubs like Southampton...
MASSIVE clubs like southampton dont make me laugh. Correct me if i'm wrong but we beat you at roots hal;l earlier on this season.Small club we may be but nothing grotty about us, at least we know our place in life, we have nothing to lose you have got everything to lose.

HA HA dream on jersey shrimper. your team is considerably weaker than when you beat us earlier. Conversely, ours is a lot stronger. i assure you, a slip up WILL NOT happen again.

enjoy league one, where you belong.

I NEVER suggested we were going to win tomorrow, however you are not a MASSIVE club and thats a fact. You have had a reasonably strong team all season why are you fighting to get in tO THE play offs?. INCONSISTENT thats why, if you wre as good as sunderland then you would have been promoted already, now THEY are a massive team. No matter what happens tomorrow i will enjoy my day out at southampton tomorrow. And as for league 1 we are quite accustomed to that so no probs there some nice clubs and supporters.

If we had Roy Keane in charge then I am sure our players would have been scared into submission to over perform like Sunderland. He's one boss you really don't want to get on the wrong side of! Lets hope it works for them in the Premiership. Fisticuffs with Fergie or the deluded one could be interesting... anyway back to keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Hey we won. We're in the play offs. smiley

Don't have a go at shrimper as he is probably as much a Southend fan as we are Saints fans. Bad luck on going down mate although I have to say that the fat lady sings is more a pseudo Saints fan as he supports Portsmouth for some reason or another but the amount of posts he puts in our threads suggests to me that he obviously doesn't get enough enjoyment down the toilet that is Fratton Park.

Anyway, you can sit back and enjoy the summer now shrimper. We've got the nail biting finish that is the play offs to go through yet. I must pop out and buy an extremely large bottle of whisky now.

I just got back home from St. Mary's (Southend fan), and I want to say the fans - from both teams - were amazing. Admittedly, I'm biased and I believe we were absolutely fantastic... But I also sat in the very back row, and I have to say, banging that plastic makes a real loud noise when you're going along to "Ring Of Fire".

The Alan Ball stuff was cool, a nice touch with the lettering. Also the random bursting into chanting his name (from both sets of fans) was nice.

Although the stand opposite the away fans seemed pretty quiet.

If anyone saw an inflatable lobster... well, Ahem winkeye.

The game was a laugh. We may've lost 4-1, but we had a relegation party. Which was fun. A nice send-off for Spencer Prior too, even though he didn't come on.

Really happy with the result especially as we went 1 down first. It was a great atmosphere. Just like to say the Southend fans did their club proud. It was great to see a group of fans being so supportive and positive even though they knew they were relegated.
