Can Swansea nick that last playoff spot?

League One Swansea City

Thankfully Darryl Duffy kept Swansea in touch with the last playoff place today with his last minute winner against Carlisle, much to my delight. However, looking at the fixtures for next week it looks difficult for Swansea to make it. Oldham (who won today as well) have got Chesterfield, who are already relegated, at home next week. This appears to be a much easier match than Swansea's against Blackpool. If Swansea keep their recent good form and Oldham slip up (Chesterfield playing for pride may be more up for it than Oldham) then of course Swansea are in. Obviously if Swansea lose then they are out of it.
I honestly don't see Oldham losing to Chesterfield though so it comes down to goal difference, there are only two goals between them. With the fans behind them at the Liberty, Swansea have a real chance. I think they can make it. I hope they make it...

What a racist remark to be making. I have lived in England for over 25 years and you guys often wonder why the Welsh, Irish and Scotish don't support you. We are a proud sporting nation who can only ever do our best and we will be doing that this Saturday. If you hold bad feelings towards the Welsh I suggest you keep your remarks to yourself and embrase Brtish football instead of creating a devide within our nation.

I honestly think the playoffs are beyond us, however i expect the boys to go out there and fight for it nonetheless. I also belive that Roberto will take us a long way, so next season looks bright whatever division we are in.

I agree with Rhys about the pride thing as a people we are extreamly proud and patriotic as well as beng pationate (beyond what english people can ever imagine), sometimes we don't get the acknowlagement we deserve from other countries however if we don't win on saturday and Oldham loose I will be cheesed off more than if we win and fail to get in the playoffs.

Had a bit to drink tonight so am waffleing but who cares, to be honest i couldn't give a s*** about the playoffs spent 30 odd hours getting back for them last year arriving in cardiff 2 hours before the game we should have won but didn't thats football. I would rather not finnish in the playoffs than loose in them ok thats it good night and take care!

We are capable of scoring a few goals at home at Liberty stadium, even against Blackpool, the in-form team. With nothing to lose its make or brake for us. I hope we end the season with a bang. But even if we don't make it, next season Martinez is capable of pushing us to automatic promotion spot.

your not gonna make it, we are not going to lose to chesterfield and that means you need to win 4-0 against a team who can still mathematically get automatic promotion, its not gonna happen, best of luck for next year!

I'll be making my usual Saturday trip up from London to the game at the weekend - but to be honest I don't really see us making it this year..

But who cares?! The signs for the future are terrific! Martinez has done a fantastic job and a whole season of Trundle and Duffy up front could be a lot of fun (basically we need to spend whatever it'll take to sign him - he's hinted he wants to stay and we've got the money).

Whatever happens, roll on next season! Life is good when you're a jack...

I'd like to think the swans can do it, but Oldham are a good side and have by far the easiest of the two games with already relegated Chesterfield.

Blackpool on the other hand still have a chance of automatic promotion, so they will certainly be going for it.

Ok, so Bristol City playing already relegated Rotherham and Forest playing mid-table Crewe, the chances are Blackpool will be in the play offs, but there's still a chance results will go their way, so they won't make it easy for the swans.

Haha whoops my mistake biggrin In that case I'd say that Oldaham will almost certainly win. Sorry bout that slip, the beating of Bradford caused temporary delusionment.

I suppose I will let you off just this once. My mate knows one of the back room staff at OAFC and apparently Lee Richardson (former Blue of course) is gonna do us a favour and play a weakened team. Saying that though you cant really say the 1st choice eleven is that strong! come on the mighty latics!!
